Hello, you can call me Jeannie. I'm pretty much what you'd think of when you conjure the word hippie. I'm a vegetarian, have long hair and wear hippie clothes, am very liberal (not libertarian)/left-wing, I love 60's and 70's music (and general "hippie music" wink , among other things. Of course, I really don't dress this way all the time, and my moods aren't always peace-loving. But I'm trying. ^_^; Anyhoo, my name partially comes from Ziggy Stardust, one of David Bowie's personas- he's my favorite. I love to eat all things sweet and I think that cartoons are really neat. Invader Zim will run on in perpetuity in my mind. <3 I'm 23, but young at heart, hehe ^.^ I love anime, too, of course. If there's one as good as Death Note, let me know! There's this whole part of me that loves paranormal stuff and science fiction and hopes I'm secretly an alien (but, you know, the hot kind), but I could go on and on about ME, my favorite subject! 6_6; If you don't like me, that's cool too. Just live & let live I say. I'll warn you, I'm very introverted & cherish my "me" time so sometimes I don't feel like talking to any of the rest of the world. But other times I really don't feel that way & I get lonely too. So that's me, without a whole lot of details. *shrugs* ;P

I think the fluidity of sexuality of Joined Trills may be due to living for hundreds of years as both male and female, and eventually Dax came to realize that love is just that: love.

Okay good night for reals this time XD

Since I read the manga first, for the longest time I thought Mello WAS a girl (you don't have voice actors while reading lol, a chapter in I realized Mello was a guy lol)... now, I've gotten used to very feminine looking anime boys, but yea I donno Mello took the cake for me I guess XD.. I'm not a huge Mello fan anyways.

I should really catch up on those cracky vids, they are just too amusing, I had to have watched that one a dozen times though XD.

I think that a lot of people are attracted to the warrior spirit, honor system, and the really cool weaponry and costumes/makeup when it comes to the Klingons. Also the songs, the Klingons are passionate and full of life, and can be just all around funtimes. (At least how TNG and DS9 portrayed them - mostly DS9 when they were around Dax). I've known several Klingon cosplayers that are very passionate about life, but not necessarily about the whole "war" thing. This particular group was dedicated to donating for charities, and doing benefit events, and since they had cool costumes I suppose they were in demand. I would have joined if I had the time, they all seemed to be very cool people.

I can understand the appeal of a logic and peace based society as well. And yea, blowing up Vulcan was like the stupidest thing I ever saw, "alternate reality" or no. I do like the Vulcans as well, because they use their brains, instead of spewing whatever comes to mind. Spock was also an amazing character because he had lived in this passionless world, and he had to work hard to repress his emotions to fit in with his society only to be thrown into the mix of humans that only seemed to push him to break free of that and be an emotional being. The struggle was really what I think brought out the depth of Spock, and I really enjoyed that aspect of him. I really enjoy stories that glimpse into the human spirit like that. Oh, and I still gotta get around to watching the rest of TOS, someday.

Well, bedtimes for me, I may be around tomorrow, I am enjoying our discussion though :3 Been a while since I could really talk older Trek with anyone (everyone seems to be about the new movie lately).

Oh and even though Jadzia ended up with a guy, I kind of always saw her as pretty much Bi - the gender of the person she cared about didn't ever seem to matter to her, nor the outward appearance (I recall tales of her dating a guy who had a transparent skull? and she did create news with that girl on girl kiss she did!) I think that was one of the reasons I really liked her.

Naw we all have our gripes, so no stress! I wasn't a huge fan of the last Star Trek movie, it had a lot of fan pacifiers that I didn't like. I was still entertained, just something about it felt very un-Trek. That familiar nostalgic feeling was missing, and there was just something very off about it, like the people who made it didn't get Star Trek at all. However, so far not a huge fan of anything I've seen from that particular director either.

I agree on the Near angle, cute kid, but he's like "Mini-L" with white hair instead of black, and if they had done something similar with Jadzia, then I'd have been just as annoyed, which is why I liked the change in the end, it had to grow on me a bit though.

I've never really slashed any of the Trek characters. I didn't get into slash until years after Voyager ended. I hear Janeway/7 is a huge pairing XD but I only know that from some of the fanvids I've seen.

I've still never seen the end of Voyager though O.o, and I never got into Enterprise O.o There was just something not that good about the writing imho, and I just couldn't get into them. I might give them another chance some day (as long as I can skip that horrid intro song for Enterprise). I guess TNG and DS9 were just really what I'm into as far as Trek goes.

Speaking of slash and Star Trek lol.. This Youtube Video... I donno if you will find that amusing or not, but I laughed my a** off XD The whole series of videos is rather random and silly though, and if you are a fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation and people's random crack ideas, I'd definitely recommend it :3

Slash is more fun imho when it's not cannon though, but there's just enough tension between the characters to make it worth reading XD, but that could be because most of my favorite slash pairings are pretty far from ever being cannon XD

Yea she was at a con XD it was a nice local small con though, last I heard they aren't put on anymore.

They actually touched on the fact she is not very confident in comparison to the other hosts, and there was an entire episode based around her doubts. Also she was an emergency transplant, so she was never prepared for it, like Jadzia or the other ones were. The Trill have to go through schooling, training, and an entire selection process in order to get a symbiont.. So, I think they covered it pretty well. I liked that she was different, it gave a little more depth to her character, and was better than making her an exact copy for a replacement.

I can understand being bitter about losing a character you really like though. I had a hard time finishing Death Note after L died (Manga - I still haven't finished watching the Anime, I would hope for obvious reasons..) and I was pretty bitter about Jadzia for a long time, but after going back and watching the series again, I ended up liking Ezri as well... Not to mention, it gave leeway for another favorite pairing of mine: Jadzia and Bashir. XD I was actually rather upset with the Jadzia/Worf thing when it happened, but with Ezri being in the picture it left room for Dax to end up with Bashir in the end of the series. Maybe that was fan pandering, but I think it played out rather well.

Odo and Kira were my favorite pairing though :3 I think I was running up and down the halls of my house when that happened XD. You're right, a lot of times the pairing you want to happen just never does.. I asked Nana Visitor at a con once (this was a huge con, and around the time of the 3rd season - I was about 13 at the time) if she thought Odo and Kira would be a good couple. Haha she broke my little heart! She said they would be better off as friends biggrin I laugh at this memory now, only because it didn't become true, but, I was really disappointed at the time to hear that :3 Odo was my favorite character, I wanted to see him happy XD

Thanks :3 Death Note and DS9 are good times :3

I'm actually not bitter about what happened with Jadzia. Mostly because I realize that Teri Farrel was wanting to try out new things for her career, and wanted to move on from Star Trek. Well, that, and Nicole DeBoer - when I met her - was such a sweetheart :3 and the writing for Ezri was good too.

No stress on awkward :3 it's just nice to find people who know that the screen name isn't jumbled letters I made up on my own!
