I'd like to think that I've dealt with more than my fair share of s**t, and it really did haunt me for a time. I'm still not 100% better, but I've started to rise from the proverbial ashes.

Being trusting isn't a fault! The faults lie in others who are too cowardly to trust. Those are the people who lack empathy because they themselves were hurt. All they do is continue the vicious circle that is hate. e_e
Be proud of who you are. The warmth of your heart will give you a more passionate existence in the future, even if it sucks now. Don't be too eager to accommodate the world and turn all cold and tough (and chewy- like those old brownies that no one will eat.)

Indeed.

Of course, one should prepare for such travesties of relationships. Although it's not really possible to prevent hurt, it can be lessened and dealt with if safeguards are made. It may distance you from others to a degree, but that's a price many are willing to pay to protect themselves.

I personally opt for the more naive approach, which has burned me on many occasions, but it seems to be worth it in the end. Plus, I've learned to heal quickly, which really helps. XD
