About

I don't know what to say about myself so I'll tell you what I like. I like to travel. My goal in life is to step on every continent in the world. So far, I've visited Europe, Asia and Australia.

Once I visit every continent, I'm going to buy a huge boat and go around the world to the seven seas, starting with sailing down the chain of islands in the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, I'm going to save up some cash while working on boats in the Bahamas.

thanks ^^ i think it's a little easier in college really, because you typically only have three or four hours of class a day, so it's more a matter of juggling homework time with clubs then sacrificing off time for it or trying to squeeze clubs into the same small time frame.

it's sad when things like that clash, because you're forced to choose, and sacrifice one for the other.

that's one of the reasons i'm dropping a club this year, because i have a class that interferes with meeting times. unfortunately classes come first User Image

that club sounds like fun though ^^ i have one of those. we call it HAL (short for Humanist Action League) and it's always been my favorite. sadly it's the other one i have to drop this year -_- but i enjoyed it for the last three years, so i guess it's an okay time to say goodbye. also, all the usual club members are graduating and moving away, so it's not going to be the same anyway. i'm still going to try and attend/help with both clubs' activities when i can find the time, and maybe go to a random HAL meeting. is there anyway you can do that? join in on some of their other activities? or are they pretty much all taking place at the same time (and thus you're booked with soccer)?

lol nice

you must be going all out to be getting so banged up, eh?

yeah, i used to have 5 the year before last, but i've been slowly cutting them back ^^; guess i can get a little carried away at times.

the three i kept actually overlap a fair bit, so they weren't as difficult to keep up with as the other two were.

i know how that is! normally i'm busy more by choice (because of clubs) which isn't so bad. i've always had at least 3 clubs after classes, and this year my courses are looking to be so time consuming i won't even have time for that! i'm going to have to drop two of them. well... i might have time for a random meeting on one of those, but no ... really i better just suck it up and concentrate on all my homework -_- oh well, i suppose it's better to focus on one or two things rather then spread out amongst a whole bunch anyway, right?

so how's soccer going?

sorry, i know it took me awhile to get back to you. i haven't been online much, and i'm just now starting to get caught up with everything i missed

yeah, i'm taking a second year of spanish for kicks, starting in the fall.

learning can be great, when it's something your interested in i used to read my mom's old text books and stuff, because there was no pressure or anything, just interest. i've never audited before, but i keep meaning too. i've sat in on other peoples classes though. i used to do that a lot when i was in HS. i'd go to college on my spring breaks and stuff ^^ it was a lot of fun.

i went to an educational "camp" once. it was for my scholarship, and they took us to a college campus the summer before our senior year. we stayed in the dorms with a room mate and went to "classes" which were basically just little speals about good study habits, financial aid info, and this one to help us get a resume started. we were only there a few days, and i had NOTHING in common with my room mate. i called her sparkles because she had this big sparkled makeup case and acted like a happy sparkly little doll, and i'm more ... well the books and serious type. she was nice just ... into more of the social side of college then the educational side. it was still pretty fun though.

we didn't spend much time with my grandma, because she's really religious, but my brother and i did TONS together, and we got to hang out with our cousin (and her niece/our 2nd cousin) a bunch which was nice. we did some stuff with our mom too, but she's not really up for a lot of activity, so mostly she just sat on the beach or took pictures and watched us have fun. she said she enjoyed herself though, so i guess that's what counts.

that's sad. that you feel bad for your mom i mean. it's true, i could see where they might think she'd done something wrong. on the other hand, maybe they're all just praying and hoping that you'll eventually come around. have you tried reassuring your mom that it isn't her fault? that might help you ease some of that guilt. heart to hearts can be unattractive, i know, but they can be really good for the soul and your relationships. the older i get the more i'm learning to appreciate and use them.

wow! sounds great! i wish we had family reunions like that!

this is probably going to sound weird and maybe even morbid, but our version of a family reunion (on my mom's side that is, which is who i was raised with) was memorial day. we'd go to all the grave sites and the older family members would tell us younger ones stories about those passed on. i learned most of my family history/tree/heritage that way. i really liked it, because it was one of the few times a bunch of us would get together and i really enjoyed hearing stories about my great grandparents and stuff, ya know? we also always had a picnic in the park, and then the women would drag the men and kids around to a bunch of yard sales (that part sucked cuz it was really boring).

i've actually never left the country except to go to canada -_-; it's sad i know. the farthest i've been from home (which has ALWAYS been Washington State) would have to be hawaii. it's not that we didn't travel, we just never left the U.S.

and canada almost doesn't count, because we went there due to the fact that we lived only about 20 minutes or so from the boarder >.< so it wasn't even like leaving WA, accept that we had to go through the security at the boarder, and the speed limits weren't in miles per hour lol

do you have a lot of family in puerto rico? is that why you have the reunions there?

i'd love to go there some day! there are a lot of places i'd like to visit, but that ones pretty high on the list. it's right up there with peru [IMG]http://s2.cdn.gaiaonline.com/images/common/smilies/icon_3nodding.g

well if you were up for the danger then an LNG would be the way to go then.

yeah, i'm beginning to think 4 years isn't long enough to learn everything in general. the people that i've met that pull it off or plan on it usually seem to be pretty rushed, and take more time at home studying then out participating at campus events or hanging out with friends. also, there's no time to take classes just because they look like fun. and, for me, that's half the point of college ^^ actually, that's one of the main reasons i give consideration to grad school, because there are more classes i want to take. but then, i guess i could always just audit or take a few just for kicks, with no real purpose in mind.

you should do it! take a weekend i mean. making time for something you enjoy is important to the spirit ^^ it's like taking your vitamins. sure you could live with out them, but your quality of life/health is much improved when you take a little extra time for things like that. and you'll get better the more you do it.

camp was fun ^^ it was a family one, so we were there with our mom, grandma, and a couple cousins. it was a religious camp (and neither my brother nor i were religious), but we hardly noticed. they had so many activities! archery, rock climbing, horse back riding, boating, etc. etc. it was awesome! i wish we could go again sometime. have you ever been to a camp? that was the only time we went, because our mom never really had money for things like that. we got some kind of group discount that time and i think my grandma paid for most of it (because she was really religious and thought it was important for us kids to go because of it).

that's cool ^^ it's nice to have a little time to debate.

yeah, it's only a couple years left. five is longer then most people take i guess, but i know plenty who have taken or are taking 5 years who are perfectly happy. also, i'm on scholarship so *shrug* it's not like it's costing me anything to take my time.

i'll have to sorta cram to get all the classes in that i want (mostly the second year of spanish), but it's all good User Image

i sailed once when i was a kid... i was like ... 17 at the time and we went to this camp where my brother and i got to take a small sail boat out on the lake for a little bit. it was pretty cool ^^ other then that though i never really been. i think once when i was about 2yo some friends of the family took me fishing, and i THINK we were on a boat ... but i can't say as i remember it too well User Image

yeah, finding a job is a real pain right now, because all i have is a HS degree -_- maybe i should have gone to a two year college first and gotten my AA, but i'm glad i went to four year though because i would have gone crazy if i hadn't been able to put some classes from my major periodically, ya know?

how long did you have to go to school?

sucks about the cruises, cuz i would think that would be a fun job.

what's LNG? are containers the same as cargo? is that what they call them?

No rush, right? Besides, if your going to spend all that time and money going to school, you should have a good idea of what you want to study. I've been wandering around aimlessly for most of my college stay o.o and now i've got no chance of graduating before my 5th year : P

Marine Transportation, that sounds like fun ^^ are you looking for anything specific (cruise, cargo, etc.) or just happy to be on the waves?

How'd you pick that for a major/career? it's not something most people would think of. did you do a lot of sailing as a kid or something?
