Stuff and Things

"Listen, suffering is a fact of life. Either you learn how to deal with that or you go under. You can stay in your own little dream world, but you can't keep hurting other people!"

Heather Mason is the protagonist of Silent Hill 3. She is the first female primary character in the Silent Hill series. Heather is the reincarnation of both Cheryl Mason and Alessa Gillespie.

Heather's given name is Cheryl Mason, the adopted daughter of the writer Harry Mason, who survived the events of the first Silent Hill game. When Harry escaped Silent Hill, Alessa, the Incubator, came back as an apparition and presented him with a newborn baby, which is both Cheryl and Alessa herself restored to one body again. Harry left Silent Hill with the baby and moved to Portland; however, they were attacked by a member of the Order there and Harry killed him in self-defense.

In an attempt to throw the cult off (should they come and look for both him and the child), he renamed her Heather, dyed her hair blonde and relocated to another city. Harry eventually settled in the Daisy Villa Apartments with Heather.

On one of Heather's birthdays, Harry gave her a pendant with a red jewel inside and told her to take good care of it and to never take it off; the reason being that the red jewel is crystallized Aglaophotis which can expel demons and if the Order had ever attempted to impregnate Heather again, she could survive by swallowing the Aglaophotis and expelling God.

"You can't be dead, I was going to kill you!"

The character Kara Thrace had intended to be a professional Pyramid ball player until her knee gave out. She eventually joined the military, where she found more acceptance than she had felt at home as an abused child. Although Kara's mother, Socrata Thrace, had served as a Marine Sergeant Major in the First Cylon War, Kara was the first person in the family to become a commissioned officer. Socrata was not content with her daughter's military record, however, claiming she was not disciplined enough, and she was wasting her natural talent for flying. Kara's father, Dreilide Thrace, was a piano player. He left the family when she was a child.

As a Flight Instructor at the Colonial Flight School, she met and became romantically involved with one of her students, Zak Adama. Although Zak told her he did not want any special treatment from her, Kara passed him even though he failed Basic Flight, as she could not bring herself to crush his dreams.

Her leniency cost Zak his life when he was killed on his first Viper mission. After his death, Starbuck met his father, William Adama. He realized Starbuck and Zak had been engaged and brought her under his command as a Lieutenant. Zak's death, however, created a wedge between Adama and his other son, Lee "Apollo" Adama, who blamed his father for Zak's death. After the funeral, Lee broke off all contact with his father and Starbuck.

Starbuck has a natural talent for flying and is considered Galactica's best pilot, although she is also known for being an avid card player and drinker as well as for her eruptive temper. Adama loves Kara despite her flaws and considers her something of a surrogate daughter. However, Starbuck and Colonel Tigh share a mutual sense of loathing, despite their similarities. At the time of the attack on the Colonies, she was second in command of the Galactica's fighter wing.

And from time to time Chell form Portal and Portal 2

Chell is the protagonist and player character of the Portal series. Chell first appears in Portal, where she is taking part in the Aperture Science Enrichment Center's test under supervision by GLaDOS. GLaDOS tries to kill her as Chell then tries to escape the Enrichment Center, attempting to kill GLaDOS in the process. However, Chell is dragged back into the laboratories at the end of the game. Chell last appears in Portal 2: Lab Rat, a prelude webcomic to Portal 2, where Doug Rattmann puts her in stasis. In Portal 2, Chell is reawakened by Wheatley and they attempt to escape. By the end of Portal 2, Chell finally is kicked out of the Aperture Science facility.
