I like your character a lot and the story was pretty good, I think I could have gotten more into it better if it was told in first person! Also I love the art in your sig, it's quite stunning. emotion_c8

Well, there's a fusion of Don Kuro and Nyx, gaia arrives and whatnot. But the halloween manga focus on Angels Vs Demons. We had to help Ivan create a time machine ala kickstart and Ivan finds himself in the war with other users alongside him getting out of the portal. Azrael battles Ciro pretty much.

Haha, nice. At least yours appear to have a relative sense of theme about them. That's interesting though; I almost never see/saw anyone use those eyes too often. Needless to say, we've both improved tremendously at avatar creation over the years. xD

Yes, and yes! I thought Graphic Communication Design would be good because it was relatively creative but also like you said it encompasses a broad range of potential careers, which would be nice. Buuut I wasn't loving it so much, so I switched. Video Game Design is a lot more narrow obviously, but I think it's better for me. I'd love to be able to contribute to some more family-friendly games, lol. That's my personal crusade. Yeah you're definitely in a good program to get lots of diverse experiences! I totally agree about those worthless groupmates. xD I'm working on a big group project right now ( which is why I've been so slow to respond, btw, so sorry about that ^-^'' ) but I'm having frustrations of an entirely different kind. Two of my groupmates are like.. lacking in basic intelligence. IDK how to say it without being mean lol, but they just don't seem to understand anything about anything. And also this program is extremely male-dominated, and I'm pretty sure half of my group does not take me seriously as a human being. So that's cool. Like I KNEW that mindset existed, but I think I was in denial about it until recently. For example, one guy in my group kept repeatedly explaining the word "multiplayer" to me, like I had no idea what that word might mean. I could like physically feel the ulcer forming every time he started speaking to me.

Haha, I'm glad you agree about dA! That's just how I always feel. xD Good luck on your sketchbooking quest! You will have to let me know how it goes. A mascot competition? That sounds interesting. Oh haha, well being bored is a good excuse to creep on random people drawing. It's hard to blame them. But at least you weren't.. idk.. writing down your heart's deepest secrets, or something. sweatdrop

Oh no it totally doesn't lol, I just pulled that out of thin air. Er well maybe it does, but if it does it's a happy coincidence. I see, I see. Haha yes the storyline.. I don't even know what's going on anymore. So yeah, that's probably the best way to go about backstory-making. I've never really found a good way to tie Nasyiri to the Gaia world. I knew I sorta wanted to, so I didn't tie her to anything else, but she's sort of floating wordlessly at the moment. xD That sounds like a fantastic thread! I wish I'd seen it! Haha great minds think alike, clearly. I'd love to see any of your ancient avatars, if you ever come across any.

Oh I feel you there. I'm downright mean to myself about my own art. Media and graphic design, you say? That's cool, I did graphic communication design for two years, myself. Dem group projects. I think I ran into the same problem, lol. ( Then I bailed outta that program and switched to video game design so I could draw wizards and knights and stuff all day. >u>'' ) Right dA is such a depressing place. In the beginning it always inspires you to work harder and get better and then like 5-10 minutes later you just find yourself crying softly in a corner somewhere. But yeah carrying a little sketchbook around with you is a good idea. Oh no! People creeping on your sketching because of the tiered seating, that's terrible. xD I would flip out if that happened to me! If that many people were watching though you must have been dropping some skilled doodles, right?

A mystery indeed. Maybe whatever the genetic weirdness is that caused the heterochromia also occasionally causes bi-chromatic hair. >o>'' (I always kind of fancied that that probably has some connection to Nasyiri's magical capabilities, too. But I haven't properly thought it out.) Oh haha really? It does seem like you've got a very developed little story now. Are the bits about the Gaiaverse (like the Church of Seidh) things you found in the site's actual storyline (hahaha) or did you come up with them yourself? Oh, High Priestess Aimi is very pretty. I love her color scheme. Interestingly, I was also obsessed with the color blue when I joined. But apparently I went the route of Alcoholic-Lizardfish-Mutant-Futuristic-Paladin: Denim-and-Spandex Edition. (It's so bad I'm past ashamed and actually just kinda proud of it, tbh.)

You're welcome! Eh, all of us could stand to improve, I suppose. That's why I never browse dA anymore. It just reminds me of how much better I could be. xD Challenging yourself is always a good thing, as long as you go into it accepting that it will take some failure before the success happens. Or, you know, a LOT of failure, if we're talking about armor. xD I'm currently trying to master Varian Wrynn's armor, and it's going.. terribly. Because yeah, the shaping always seems weird. I think it'd be easier if I could see a crazy suit of armor up close irl, to learn how it all works. Hmmm, I'd say the best way to learn to draw anatomy is just to draw tons of people from life. (I go sit on the beach or by the pool a lot and draw people there; they don't move around much and you can pretty much see their entire anatomical structures.) But there are also a lot of books that I've found helpful. Dynamic Anatomy by Burne Hogarth is a good one. That's true! I really love watching artists draw, too. Though I myself NEVER let people watch me draw, so.. >o>

^-^'' I'm glad you got a laugh out of it lol. Oh goodness I'd love to see a doodle of that ogre. Yes she has an orange tuft. But shhhh, I'd thank you to keep the secret. xD I keep meaning to come up with a plausible reason for it, but nothing has come to me. (Let's be real, I keep meaning to come up with a whole backstory, but that hasn't happened either!) /fail. Woooah, that's a fantastic story! About how she became a half elf, I mean. Does that person have any idea how influential they were, I wonder? Were the avatars you played with before Rika also character types? I tried a lot of "characters" before Nasyiri but none of them lasted too long. I think the closest I came to being happy with one of them was a dark elf assassin girl. But to be fair I was going for a WoW-style Night Elf Rogue, which wouldn't have been good long term for a Gaian OC, I don't think.

That's a very good-looking sketch! I lke it, thanks for showing me. ^-^ That's all true about precision and whatnot. I'm not necessarily bad at anatomy, but it's much easier to draw well-clothed people. Especially when I'm coloring. It's much easier to color a lot of smaller sections than a few larger ones, for me. But yeah it doesn't seem like that line of thinking is the dominant one. Though I guess there are some complex subjects that I'd say are more difficult than simple outfits. Armor is one of them. xD I don't think I really understand how it works, so it's tricky for me. I always love hearing different artists' perspectives on the subject. It's crazy how many different workstyles and approaches people have.

He didn't, thank goodness! I was doing art for him and had only just finished up that blasted tail when he told me he was considering losing it. I'm very glad he didn't, else I MIGHT have had to introduce his face to the back of my hand. >:[ Haha that is true, although a gruesome green ogre in a frilly dress is a fun mental picture. xD I see, I see. Checkmate was/is a really nice item. I can totally see how it would inspire you! And lol I can't imagine Nasyiri without an oversized magical hat either, which is okay because she has a stupid orange tuft of hair smack on the top of her head that I prefer to keep hidden. sweatdrop It is funny how much influence one item can have on characterization. I'm glad for it though, for sure. I was a hot mess before this character.

Haha, really? I'd like to see one of these slapdash doodles sometime, if you'd be so inclined! I think there's a happy medium somewhere in there that involves time and observation and also decisiveness and efficiency. I'm a bit too far in the time and observation. I'll try and rub some of that off on you, and you can rub some of your speediness off on me, 'kay? xD Mmhmm mmhmm if I finish it, I'll be happy to show it! I'm busy with schoolwork and a contest piece atm but I'm trying to put some work into it still. Weirdly, I've always found highly simple subjects to be a little harder to draw than subjects with a little more detail to them. Empty space throws me off a little bit, I think.

Ew, you think so? I certainly hope that's not the case! But I guess it would be interesting to look into. Oh the horns and tails thing cracks me up, too! I have a friend who gets that particular criticism a lot. I think once it got so bad that the poor man was considering having his tail amputated. It's a cruel world. qnq Thoooough I would have to confess that I sometimes think it looks a little off when someone has like all brown hair and brown furry ears and then a random bright blue tail, or something of that sort. Mmm, I might know who you're thinking of. And if so I agree! There are a few Trolls running around too that always look very stylish.

No problem! And aging well is a really good way to put it. It took me two or so years to settle on my character. I think Nasyiri popped into existence when Merlin's Hat was released, lol. I never believed in love at first sight before, but then.. emotion_kirakira I love drawing, myself. But I'm ridiculously slow about it! I've been working on and off on a piece for my profile background for ages and ages, and idk if I'll ever actually finish it. xD That's so true about the art shops, though. I completely agree. That and it seems to me that I only ever run into artists who are looking to draw simple and/or cutesy characters. Not that I have anything against that character type, only it's kind of a bummer when all your own outfits are nightmarishly complicated. For that reason, I don't really go to the AF anymore, though I do have some wonderful freebies from the past! And those places do make for fun conversational environments.

So boring! I feel you there. I'd be limited to wearing dark brown and.. slightly less dark brown. xD Yeah I hope that the Gaia racism doesn't leak out into the lands beyond the internet, lol. But I'm always thrown off whenever anyone points out that an avatar's skin doesn't match it's outfit. And I think people get racist about avatars for reasons other than skin, too. Weirdly. I've had more than one person tell me that my ears don't "add anything" to my avatar. But they're my ears, for pity's sake. D: Idk. It kinda gives you a whole new appreciation for anyone regularly rocking one of the more uncommon skins/races!

And too with having a set character I always liked the idea of being able to collect art over a long period of time and still have all of it look like me, you know? Be able to put any piece in your sig at any time and have it still be obviously your current character. I know you know how that is though lol. You have one of the most epic avi art collections of them all. *u* I always intend to buy more avatar art, but I don't get around to it as often as I'd like.
