i go by piyola on here.
naps, charity work, thrillers, and caped baldies are just a few of my favorite things.
my schedule outside of gaia is hellishly irregular, so i may not answer back at a frequent rate.
and, that's pretty much it.

I didn't really have any trouble getting used to the way books in Japan are arranged... mostly because a couple years before that I learned about it in middle school during a week of events, classes, and lessons having to do with Japan and Japanese culture.

And I don't think that any of the libraries nearby to me have any volumes of the Ranma manga, so I suppose I'll have to look up summaries online. I mean, since it's a Rumiko Takahashi work, I don't expect the characters to undergo many serious changes, if any at all. ^^;

I found out about it through an American comic book series that was stylistically inspired by manga, and frequently made references to manga series. And when I was looking through a comic store one day, I noticed a couple issues of the Ranma manga (albeit in the flopped, American comic book format), and that was that. ^^;

But no worries about replying after going on vacation -- I figured if you had a response, you'd get around to it in your own time. ^^ Hope you had fun on your vacation, though!

Oh, yes -- there's so very much out there that's leaps and bounds away from Ranma 1/2 in terms of... *ahem*... "graphic" material. ^^;;;

Still, I suppose there were some cartoons and comic books that I liked before Ranma 1/2 that involved some degree of that "style", if not outright anime or manga series in themselves. It's just that Ranma was the first one I got into that I *knew* was an anime and manga series.

I can see how that aspect of the series would be difficult for parents to deal with. Mine didn't really care... and I think it was because of those scenes in Ranma that eventually I was able to be less... I dunno, squeamish, I guess, about that sort of thing? ^^;

I never finished the anime either, though, and only read the last few pages of the final manga volume. By the time either ending became available, I'd already long-since moved on to other series that held my interest a lot more... but Ranma 1/2 does still have a place in my heart. ^^

Oh, I was a pretty big fan through high school -- it was the series that got me started on my interest in anime/manga. ^^

(Plus my watching it coincided nicely with not only being in high school, but also with practicing martial arts with friends who reminded me of characters like Ryoga and Shampoo. xD )

:: sees the animated .gif of Akane, and *immediately* remembers this song ::

And it's still kind of a catchy tune, even though I've heard it plenty of times before. ^^
