Oh the ranks, well no thats what I tought at first but the thirteen divisions are the gates or distcrits that govern/rule/run that specific part of Soul Sociaty. The ranks are the same for every division. Example:
Captin-Gin Ichimaru: He is the strongest out of all Third Company
Assitant Captin-Izuru Kira:Second strongest and gets to be Gin's assistant, or hence the title Assitant Captin(and gets to wear the cool badge on his left arm with the Company logo and symble
Then come in "seats" or the ones below the two most strongest, such as the next strongest would be the "third seat" or third strongest after the assitnat captin and the captin him/her self :nod: Its the same for every Comapny, like Tenth is Captin Toshiro Hitsugaya (I dont know if thats his name i might be confuzzeld) then assistant captin Rangiku Matsumoto, or like Captin of 6th Byakuya and assitant Renji
