Yeah, for the most part it really seems that way. Like a never ending battle. Don't worry, I totally understand getting emotional over these type of things. I get emotional too. It's a hard thing to experience. Cats are totally awesome, and completely misunderstood by most people as evil, dirty, or whatever else, when they aren't. To see or even hear about them being mistreated (or any animal, for that matter), when all they are trying to do is survive the best they can.... it's a very sad reality.

Kawasaki came from a similar situation, just a different area. My boyfriend and I briefly moved out of where we are now, and into our own place a few years ago before we hit hard times and had to come right back here. She was about 3 months old. Apparently she was part of the feral colony that lived in that area, but someone had taken her in really young, got her used to be handled, then when she got playful and learned to use her claws, threw her back outside to fend for herself. Since she had been removed from the colony they weren't very excepting to her when she came back, and she got beat up by the other cats a lot. We moved in and began to feed her, she was basically our cat that stayed outdoors, we werent supposed to have cats indoors, landlord hated them. Well as you brought up in the last comment, local kids were more dangerous to her than anything, because she was so excepting of humans, she'd walk right up to them and get abused, so we took her in and she's been our ever since. Tawzy, I actually *bought* from backyard breeder, who kept her in horrible conditions. The backyard looked like a dump, Kittens everywhere, totally feral. No visible signs of food, or clean water. She brought Tawzy up to my holding her upside down by her back foot. Skinny, Flea infested, clearly the worst off of all the kittens, the old lady refused to just give her to me, I was appalled. But I gave her the money anyway and took her home. Then proceeded to call animal control and report the women....she's not breeding anymore :3

To be honest, I'm not quite sure. I saw her a few times after that, but then she vanished. It's rare that the same cat hangs around for more than a few months at a time. There are a lot of ferals around here, and we live in a VERY bad area for there to be so many. Highways, busy streets, a set of train tracks, and a school, all with in a few blocks. Not to mention natural predators like coyotes, hawks, and owls. I also have a neighbor who likes to trap them and take them to the shelter to be put down saying they are a "nuisance", so it's a pretty grim situation for most the cats around here. cat_sad

Haha, Yes! Very well put! Yeah, he was so anemic from fleas and poor nutrition, his gums were pure white. He was severely dehydrated, He was skin and bones. Had an Upper Respiratory Infection. His mom, who was another feral cat outside and still a kitten herself, had him outside in my yard somewhere. We caught him wandering around outside one morning by himself, Snatched him up, and brought him inside. We tried to get his sibling too, but he/she was a little more "street smart" than Gizmo, and always got away.

Yeah, they are pretty happy cats. cat_4laugh They were all born feral, and didn't have the best kitten lives. Gizmo was so unhealthy when I found him, he was about to die, at roughly 4 weeks old. So they are just happy to have a home, food, and a human to own. Lol.

Kawasaki, is the grey tabby with the green blanket. She got her name from the motorcycle poster she used to sit and stare at as a kitten. Tawzy, The tortieshell calico, is a random name we came up with by combining my boyfriend's cats Tiger, (who isn't pictured yet, but just recently came back to live with me. biggrin ), and my old cat Ozzie's name. && The solid grey one, His names Gizmo. We actually didn't name him, My dad had his heart set on that name, so we kept it.
