If the people who were after Light had caught him, he would have been executed. How is what he did to them any worse than what they would have done to him? You say that he is a hypocrite for killing people who aren't bad, but wouldn't that make them hypocrites for going after Light when all Light was trying to do was rid the world of evil? Do you think that L would have let everything go and let Light live if he had discovered that Light was Kira? I doubt L would have had any problem sending Light to prison to await his execution, so why is it wrong for Light to kill him?
