I still go for tarantulas but moths are still good money and do take less time
I usually have nothing better to do
I’m still waiting on Flick to visit so I can clear a huge space of land so I can start making my island pretty
But alas, I have become tarantula island

I’ve been trying the DIY tarantula isle and it’s been working pretty well

If you’re interested in that, just check to see if the island you visit has bugs that spawn. Like stink bugs, wharf roaches, and if you hear mole crickets. If they do, you can chop every tree and pick every flower. For islands that have cliffs, I like to fill the higher zones with the flower stems and weeds so no bugs spawn up there. Or fill the top area with holes.
That makes it so only bugs spawn on the lower level. I run around with my pole and scare off any beetles and catch water bugs if they spawn in. Running with a ladder or pole doesn’t trigger the tarantula. You need to have some distance away from it so it doesn’t zoom at you with lightning speed during the switch to your net or another tool. I try to fill my entire inventory with tarantulas and just release the water bugs as I catch them.

It’s a bit of work, but it works. Ofc you don’t have to go through such lengths if you don’t want to. Even water bugs earn you 2,000 bells at the nook shop.
