And before we begin, I would like to stress to you all- These are my opinions, and they are not meant in any way to attack you or criticize you. I just happen to be very opinionated, and I enjoy telling people what I think.
If you don't agree, that's fine. You may tell me why you disagree, and tell us all what you would have rated them. However, I don't like people telling me I have bad taste, even if it may be true.
Let's just all be friendly, okie dokie?
Also, the review for Shrek Forever After is right here on the Dreamworks page, so be sure to read that as well!
I now present to you yet another edition of See It or Skip It, this time about
M. Night Shyamalan Films!
Praying With Anger (1992)
I didn't get to watch all of it, because thiss movie is impossible to find ANYWHERE. Not even YouTube has it in it's entirety. However, I got to watch some of it, only a few minutes, mind you, and I can say it looks like it is a pretty good movie. From what I saw, it seems to be about an American kid moving to India and having to face what the Indians think of American culture. It looked cute, and the title character is M. Night Shyamalan himself. If you can find it(which I doubt), you should check it out.
Wide Awake (199 cool
Yeah, okay, it's a sweet movie, but my gosh is it boring. I feel like parts were supposed to be funny, but mostly I was just bored and couldn't wait for it to be over. It's not like it was a bad movie, but I just feel like it's a loose plot and a failed comedy. And I feel like it was trying to make me cry, which I think should have been easy for it to do, but I just wasn't moved or anything. I don't know, it's just not something I'd reccomend going out of your way to see.
The Sixth Sense (1999)
OMG, do I love this movie! Bruce Willis is a beast and Haley Joel Osment is THE CUTEST BOY IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!! Anyway... it's one of those movies that's creepy but not outright scary, so you can watch it in the middle of the night and only be mildly weirded out. Plus, it makes me cry every time I watch it. Why does HJO have to be such a good actor? By the way, the kid in this movie, the one who sees dead people(that wasn't a spoiler because everyone and their grandma knows that line), is the same kid who plays Sora in Kingdom Hearts. But back to the point... this movie is awesome and touching and will make you go "WHAT??!" at the end. A definite "See It."
Unbreakable (2000)
According to Chris, this movie was awesome. According to me, this movie was boring. I don't know who's right, but I sure as heck can't stand it and sometimes I think Chris just disagrees with me for the heck of it anyway. Basically, it's about an invincible dude(I hate it already) who meets Mr. Glass, who is called that 'cause he breaks like glass. This is the reason I don't like Samuel L. Jackson- Mr. Glass is CREEPY!! Sure, he's awesome, but he's CREEPY!! Anyway, I don't like the MC, and his son is insane, and Mr. Glass is CREEPY... The only cool thing about it is the end, where you're like, "WHAT THE ****???!!?!" Otherwise, this movie sucks. (unless you're Chris, then this movie is awesome)
Signs (2002)
Apparently everyone hates this movie... I really like it. Sure, it's stupid that aliens that die when they touch water landed on a planet that's 70% water, but that's not the point. The point is it's a sad and sweet movie that is fun to watch. Plus, Merryl is a beast, especially during the "Vamanos, children!" scene. Haha, wonderful. But anyway, Mel Gibson is amazing, and the kids are cute, and the end makes me cry... I guess at this point though, me saying a movie makes me cry isn't saying much at all. That's like me saying not eating makes me hungry. WELL DUH!
The Village (2004)
Okay, I will admit that this movie is not really that amazing. But in comparison with a few other movies out there(like The Happening and Unbreakable), this movie is epic. I like how there's like five plot twists, and by the end you're like, "I barely know what to think anymore! gonk " But it's fun to watch, and maybe is a bit more creepy that the others, but not by much. The only thing I don't like about this movie is it's ending. I mean, what? It just ended! POOF, it's done! I felt like there needed to be a better resolution, y'know? And I wish they kept in the deleted scene about the howling tree... that was an amazing scene... But overall, I really liked this movie, and there's about a 50% chance you will too.
Lady in the Water (2006)
When I first saw this movie, I was like "Lulz, it's so funny 'cause that guy thinks he's smart about movies! Silly film critic!" But after re-watching it, it's really not that great. I mean, it's wimpy plot, about a funky bed-time story, and an annoying main character. And by the way, what kind of a deranged person would read to their child a bedtime story about grass wolves that eat fish women and the special people she must look into the eyes of to better the world before the grass wolves rip her to shreds? I would be a messed up child if I heard that before I went to sleep! But anyway, my favorite character is that guy who's working out on one side of the body. There's no legit reason for that, he just is. Otherwise, I really can't stand this movie.
The Happening (200 cool
Gosh was this movie stupid... Mark Wahlberg was terrible, and I really think he should stick to talking to animals. (you really need to click that link, because that is the funniest video in the world) Anyway, I thought the movie was pointless, and was basically just a string of people killing themselves in different ways. First of all, if plants messed up my sense of survival or whatever, why would that make me robotically kill myself? "Oh, pollen. I think I'll go get run over by a lawn mower now." It doesn't make any sense! And I could case less about the MCs. They were all annoying. Just... no, this movie was horrible. The only time I ever watch it these days is when I feel like taking a nap.
FINAL THOUGHTS
This year M. Night is directing The Last Airbender, based off of the Nickelodeon cartoon series Avatar: the Last Airbender. I've never really seen the show, but I've heard from a good number of people it was good. Likewise, this movie looks epic, and I look forward to seeing it when it comes out in July.
