i didn't get a chance to update yall on my experience with pregnant moms and babies last month. i really enjoyed ob/gyn (obstetrics (pregnant women medicine) and gynecology (women's reproductive health medicine)). i loved the combination of going out to clinic outpatient and seeing women of all ages and discussing with them their health concerns and goals. this was very similar to family medicine, just the patient population was more narrow to be just women instead of men and women and kids in family medicine. i also loved going into the operating room and assisting surgeons help deliver babies via c-section as well as help repair and restore reproductive function to women suffering from urine incontinence (not being able to control their urine output) and women with cancer and masses in the pelvis, etc. i dunno if i would enjoy the lifestyle going into residency, so that's probably the only barrier to me choosing this specialty.
