It was killing me to see the strongest man I ever knew
Wasting away in a hospital room.
It was killing me to know
Down the isle I'd walk alone.
I wish could have told you I forgive you.
I wish I could ask you all the things I never knew.
Like how a man can call himself a man
When his responsibilities came he ran.
When the only voice he had was because of the violent strike of his hand.
I wish you were here today
So I could tell you all the things I wanted to say.
Like: thanks to you I never knew
All the things in life I could do.
I didn't know what respect is
Until a guy came along and made me his.
He has taught me that the strongest man I once knew
Didn't have a clue.
That walking alone is okay
