I’ve added another hummingbird feeder in the yard, visible from the veranda (my favorite place of the house). It’s been getting lots of attention. Between those and the flowers, my backyard has become a bird and butterfly haven and I couldn’t be happier.
I’ve always loved dragonflies and I recently discovered they are similar to hummingbirds in a couple of ways. One is, they are both colorful. The other is, neither can walk or hop. I knew that fact was true of dragonflies, but only recently learned it to be so for hummingbirds. They both can only perch or fly. I’m curious as to why they evolved with such limitations.
This morning I finished painting the second of my hummingbird series. So far, I’m happy with the outcome.
How many will I paint? What will I do with them when I’m done? Not sure yet.
Of note: L is currently napping in a chair with a book on his chest. We were up very early and have already had a bike ride and a swim. My brothers are still sleeping upstairs, one of whom is visiting from NY. He’s here for a week and I’m ecstatic. I hadn’t seen him since Christmas. The other lives locally, but is staying here for the week, so we can all be together. It’s been fun.
