April 2nd ...
Today, my mom went into surgery for her neck. A couple years ago, she broke it and has been suffering from nerve damage. The surgery she had today was because to two big reasons:
1. One of the vertebra's in her neck have become black because now blood was able to get to it. So, they had to remove it. 2. Her spinal column is growing into her spinal cord from when she broke her neck. So, they had to stunt it or something to that effect.
Well, I was having a pretty good day in school and had heard two times that the surgeon said that everything had gone well. I even beat a couple of my friends at arm wrestling. I'm still pretty proud of myself.
Anyway, after school, I was taken to the hospital to see my mom. I was under the large impression that she was doing great and she would probably get out by tomorrow, but I was wrong. As soon as I walked into the room, my mood changed. It was pretty apparent that she wasn't doing so well. She was in so much pain that she got large doses of oxycodine and vallum every two hours. She was barely coherent, so I couldn't even talk with her either.
I was then told that the doctor was thinking that she would be in there for at least the rest of the week, then send her to rehab for maybe two weeks. It broke my heart. It meant I'd be all alone for maybe three weeks ...
Never again will I forget how it feels to watch your best friend die.
