Behind blue eyes.
my eyes are the color of the ocean, and behind them are depths of soul to rival the abyss...care to venture in?
Sitting in the dark, one's mind wanders. and probably due to my lack of organized religious involvement, I find it wandering to souls. what is a soul worth. what price would one really pay if the devil or the divine were to offer to purchase it. Myself, I find the answer often involves immortality, and the ability to bestow it upon others. or power. power to defy governments, to make those that think they are strong tremble at the sound of my bootsteps.

then it wanders further. if the deal were struck, and I made immortal...how to choose others? who really can bear the burden of immortal life. after all...people go insane now for things that happen in one mortal lifetime. or even over the span of moments or days. what must centuries and millenia do to a mind. how jaded can you become, how detached from the world must you become to retain your mind.

although there is the idea of being able to do everything you ever wanted. learn swordplay, gunplay, how to fly a plane, a helicopter, ride a motorcycle, mountain climbing...all the possibilities of the world are open, you have all the time in the world to learn. master all the martial arts.

learn to play all the known instruments, paint with all the available media....learn how to hack into everything digital. after all, what's a few years in jail for doing it to an immortal?

But what's the price, I wonder. what is the true cost of immortality. and could a human mind endure it?

The price of course, is the benifit. Time. all the time in teh world. to watch everything around you turn to dust. to watch the great great great grandchildren of everyone you ever knew die. or to see the family lines end entirely. there woudl come a day when you are the only living person that can remember a time when there was a Colloseum in rome. that there was a Great Wall of China. Or that the countries even existed. who knows if they will, after all, several thousand years from now?

There is one way to know, learn to hear the voices of the trees, for they are the flowers that grow in the landscape of eternity. They stretch back in time beyond stone and mortar and all things man made, and I dare say even after we have drowned ourselves in our own smog and wars, a single tree somewhere will survive and grow on, carrying in it memories of all that has passed, and yet bearing no burden of the sins commited.
