As of 3/10/07 at some point in the middle of the day our beautiful red nose pit bull Bane was put to sleep. Reason: He tried to bite my Ma in the face twice this morning.
This is something no one in my family has ever done and was only done now because there was nothing left for us to do. Sadly we've known this was going to happen since he's been growling at us for about a half a year now. Never been quite right in the head in our opinions and we've had pit bulls our whole lives. So this was really knew to us...and very tramatic since none of us like doing things like thing, nor have we ever. I also hope we never have to again.
The upside, I guess, is that this was more my Ma's husbands dog, who's in Florida, then ours. Been one of those love, hate relationships so it's not as bad as if it was our white pit bull, Angel, or my black flat-coated retriever(we think she is), Buffy. Still something we are all sad about and the thought that as of this moment he's a pile of ash is very bothersome.
Anyways, this first post in my Journal is in memory of Bane, a beautiful, very well behaved dog except for when he was growling. A dog that loved his food, his treats and to be scratched right down his back. Of a dog who trusted us with his life, of which we took. This is for him.
