Friendship...friend, companion, buddy...so what does that mean?
Whenever I think of my friends, and how far we've come, through all the sweat, blood, and tears, I remember back to when things were simple.
When we were first learning about each other, and each conversation brought a new prosper into the friendship that made it grow. Now I look at our friendships, and see the flaws and faults. I relive all the arguments, the shouting, the emotions, the secrets, and lies. I see the sacrifices, the pain, and the hurt.
I remember what we've lost, and all we've gained. Either way, it saddens me. Cause despite our promises to always be there for each other, we often aren't What happens when we graduate? What happens when we let our petty differences get in the way of what we share and feel?
Promises are just words meant to comfor the other, and often later mean little or nothing to us. It deeply saddens me.
Really, what is a friend other than a person you can burden your problems with? Someone you can borrow money from, take advantage of, make cruel jokes and usually just laugh it off...
There are many bright sides to friends, but it can bring so much pain too. They can save your life, open new pathways in your soul and mind, be the support and hope that you need. Make you laugh as you cry, make you smile when you're sad...
As far as I can see, friendship is just like moth a flame. You're drawn to it, and though when you get too close, you get burned, you can't help but feel drawn back.
Point is, what do you all think of friendship? What does it offer to you? Are you afraid, for those still in high school, that that's where they'll end?
Sometimes it's comforting in just knowing others feel the same.
I'm interested in knowing others viewpoints on things.
