There is something both cold and isolating, as well as inviting and reassuring about late Autumn snow. The trees are not fully barren, the ground plants and grass are not yet entirely dead, and the skies are overcast, but not too heavily. You know the snow will probably melt by tomorrow. But then it also reminds you that you may be weeks away from a blizzard that dumps a meter of snow, and everything feels like an ice age for the next few months.
