Adventures of a Barton Regular
Hey it's Calvin! I'll be updating my journal with random scenes and adventures I may have witnessed or participated in!
A Shapeshifter...
With the ever looming presence of the Labtech and his minions, we gathered together for a meeting. It was the usual. You patrol here. They'll patrol there...etc. I wasn't feeling like myself. I still felt like a failure. My mind was racing. My thoughts though, they were cloudy...foggy. I could barely focus on what Balthazar was telling me. He was looking at me, and it seemed like he was getting angrier. I was snapped back into reality. He wanted me to patrol the Bass'ken Lake today. I nodded in agreement. Once the team broke up and headed off to their posts, I trudged my way to the North Gate and headed into the Bass'ken Lake area.

It was relatively quiet. There were a few fluffs here and there, as well as a stray Outlaw Pup or two. Nothing out of the ordinary. Then I saw her. A girl had been standing there, decked out in Barton armor. I thought she was a friend of Gwen. She was...I had seen them talking on a few occasions. I turned to face her in greeting. I may have been highly upset with myself, but I wasn't going to be rude. I waved, but only saw an animal scurrying away. A shapeshifter!? I thought the Labtechs were just involved with science and machines. Who...was she even...was this an illusion? I had to report this. I told the nearest Regular to inform Balthazar before I hurried off in the direction the animal had run. No one around. I searched high and low for what felt like an eternity. Of course, Balthazar's voice soon rang in my ears.

I once again explained the situation. Again, he called me useless. Just a wild imagination. They were looking for scientific things, not magic. None of the Labtechs minions were magic. He knew nothing. I wanted to shout. I wanted to tell him he was wrong! By the time I had gathered up the courage to do so, he was long gone. He wasn't concerned at all. Why though? I had to find out more information. There was something odd about this. Was she friend or foe? Gwen knew her, but...who knows if she was tricking Gwen too. I felt defeated again. No one ever took me seriously. I had to keep moving. Had to keep telling myself that they would see one day...I could do it...

I can piece it all together. I know I can...
