The Old One told also of his survival in the times after he found his new home in the Pool-Den that had been a partially dug out swimming pool, in the backyard of a collapsed house.

Having found the pool he managed the first day to make a small fire to boil river water so he could have a safe water source, then with a bit of effort and the help of some old tools he scavenged from the collapsed house's garage he got a old " Frenelli's Moving Co. Van" put into gear and moved it near to the pool-den as a temporary shelter till the pool-den was ready to be lived in.

Then, he cleaned the van out of all its junk, and left over debris inside. Made sure the locks worked still, which luckily enough the van was old enough it had mechanical locks in the back and driver/ passgenger doors which really only required a bit of oil and a at least semi-low charge of electricity to function.

A few cars including the one he left when he first sheltered in his Beloved Cave had batteries so he went and collect what few still had a little electrical charge in them and placed them as neatly out of the way in the van as he could.

He imagine many of the vehicles still had gas in them, but decided that could be delt with another day. He went back and gathered more black berries and ate a few saving what he had left in a bandana that was relatively clean that he found in the van's glove box and began digging out the pool-den's floor to begin with till it started to get dark and to hard to see.

Then cleaning up his hands at the rivers edge he walked back up to the van hooked up a battery to the van's engine and got in locking the doors and laying down to sleep in the vans back loading comppartment, but not before coving all the van's windows so no one or thing could see him inside.
