Journal de Jour
A place for random entries. Hopefully humourous, or interesting. Enjoy.
this kind of nuts
so i just got back from another grocery trip. the last minute items trip... i hope. anyway.

my sister & her family (2 adults, 3 kids, 1 doodle) and my brother and his wife and two chihuahua mixes are coming this weekend for the holiday.

mom has always been the planner for these things. and in the past she was on top of things. the last couple years, she has been declining. to the point that she only today said she was making her list for foods and making her plans (she usually started 1-2 weeks before). and i've always just been the minion, running errands, doing tasks.

yes, i'm capable of planning and organizing, etc. but if i tried, mom would only be nitpicky. she has always had to be in control. anything less and she's nasty.

anywhoo

i can do this skin of the teeth shopping and prepping. i take care of stuff anyway, i just figure in i'll be doing more and act accordingly. technically i don't even have time to be doing this. hahaha.. sweatdrop

so i get back from the store, where i had a tough decision to make (and no cell phone so it's not like i can call and confer with mom-in-charge) -- they had NO wheat hamburger buns. we only really eat wheat bread and buns. well, they had 1 brand of wheat buns and it was on sale 2 for $6. highway robbery.
white buns were like $1.29. that's less than half of the price of 1 package of the wheat.
seeing as the buns are for the weekend, and we probably will need them.. i needed to buy some. and i didn't want to go to another store. and with lots of people here, serving white buns should be no big deal. we all eat 1 and they're gone. no leftover unwanted buns.

so i bought the white buns.

when i got home, i told mom about this. and she was like whatever, and then said, "well your sister only eats wheat buns."

emotion_facepalm

i said "well what do you do if you go to someone's house for like a cook out and they only have white buns?"

"i don't know" she answered.

emotion_facepalm

mom always told me to "suck it up and deal with it."

i'm trying to say my sister will live if she has to use bread slices or, gasp, a white bun.

but my mom. is being my mom. overly catering.

it's always like that anymore.

meanwhile, i don't get that kind of consideration.
