"Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things."
Robert Brault
On my phone, I have this app called Reflecty. I just started using it. But it gives you daily challenges and daily quotes. Today quote is this.
You know, I can really see trying to do this. We never know what will impact us later on in life. Maybe smiling at someone will make their day and stop them from committing suicide. You never know. This makes me thing of my encounter on the bus yesterday.
I've been having a pretty lousy week and when I spilled my black nail polish, I said enough is enough, I am going to celebrate that I lost another 2 pounds and going to treat myself to some sushi. Which I don't drive so that means I get to ride the city bus, another thing to concur since the last time I rode the city bus, I had a major panic attack. On the bus, nearing my stop, a black guy comes on and automatically starts beef with this white guy who said nothing and was just looking forward, like the rest of us. The white guy is sitting right beside me. They both start a racist argument that I was sure was going to escalate. It luckily didn't but that little encounter made me uncomfortable so I got off the bus early. Because of that, I got to walk in the leaves which made me smile more.
That encounter will be different for many people on the bus. For me, it was an excuse to get off early so I wouldn't get involved with something and got to enjoy nature a little bit. But for the five kids on the bus, it could have been something extremely fearful and could have impacted their life negatively. You never know how your actions will change someones life.
