What powers does your character have? (If any): Angel Soul - Isra possesses the soul of an angel, rather than that of a witch. This means that her spiritual essence is angelic in nature, which definitely sets her apart from her kin. ~ She cannot use the magic typical of witches. ~ While there are numerous powers associated with this, she is unable to use them either. This is not due to being incapable, but rather due to her own mentality. If something could be done to change this, she likely would be capable of quite a few supernatural feats. ~ Demonic powers are more dangerous to her. Pure Heart - Basically, her heart is completely devoid of all evil, darkness, malice, etc. ~ While pure, she is not immune to darkness, so she could be corrupted. ~ She is incapable of malice, even by her own volition. Empathy - She is extremely in tune with the emotions of beings around her. She can fully interpret and replicate the emotions, moods, and temperaments of others without reading apparent symptoms, which allows her to understand people better or discover when one emotion is actually hiding another. ~ This is not a true 'power' at the moment, but more like a skill. With time and work, it could develop into an actual powery power. ~ This leaves her more vulnerable to possession by a spirit or ghost. ~ Emotionless beings are well.. Impossible to empathize with. ((In future, she could eventually develop other, more useful abilities.))
What is your character behave/act?: Isra is a very quiet and soft spoken individual, yet kind and warm with others. Despite being quiet, she is not really shy or timid. She tends to be very gentle, almost to a fault. In many ways, she is a 'good girl'. Always following the rules and being obedient towards authority. When it comes to behavior, there is little that would make her stand out in a crowd. She is often content to simply stay in another's shadow, following them faithfully and supporting them. Through good and bad times, she is a steadfast and loyal friend. She is the kind of person who will listen to anything someone might want to tell her and never judge them for any of it. Even as she does this, she will hide her own thoughts and emotions behind gentle smiles. She doesn't often share much of herself. She will calmly go along with things simply to make others happy, rather than showing much self-determination. She isn't one for confrontation unless it is to protect someone she cares about.
Although she tries hard to be 'useful', as she puts it, she lacks self confidence. She often puts herself down, berating herself for not being able to do enough, even when she has given everything she can. For this reason, she can be almost overeager to help others, even if the only things she can do are small gestures of support. She shows a level of selflessness which can become self destructive under the right circumstances. With a little persistence, she can be convinced to do something she knows may seriously harm herself. It is not hard to make her go against her better judgement for the sake of another. Secretly, she also tends to be jealous of witches who have more talent than she does, but she would never scheme against them. That simply is not the kind of person she is.
What is a quote that your character would say/use?: "I'm really useless, aren't I..?"
Exactly how tall/short is your character?: 5'2"
Exactly how much does your character weigh?: 106lb
What is your character's eye color?: She has black eyes. They are very reflective, which can give the impression of other dark colors when something more colorful is reflected in them.
Where was your character born?: Manacre, Acescros
What is your character's main theme song? (If any):
What is your character's battle theme song? (If any):
What is your characters story?: Isra was born into a family that was well known for producing powerful magic users. They were practically nobility among the magical kingdom of Acescros for this reason.. So when she was born, it was expected that she would be the same. Right from the start, however, they knew there was something different about her. It began with her appearance. She almost appeared to be albino, except that her eyes were a glossy black, like the surface of a dark lake. She looked nothing like anyone in her family before her, though there were many witches and warlocks in her ancestry that had unusual appearances. This was confusing, but it was determined that she was definitely the child of both her parents.
When she was a toddler, she began to show innate magical ability like they would expect.. But it wasn't quite the same as normal. She showed psionic and elemental abilities the like of which was rarely seen among witches.. Especially the elements. They had odd properties. However, as she grew older, instead of becoming more powerful, her abilities seemed to fade. By the time she was eight, she seemed to almost be like a human child in almost every way. Her parents tried to teach her what they could of magic, but she could never seem to do anything with it.
Her parents chose to keep her at home as they tried to help her learn to use magic. There was no reason for her not to be able to that they could find, and yet.. She just couldn't. As she grew, she became very aware of her magical failings, that she disappointed her parents more and more with every new failure. They tried not to let her know how troubled they were by her lacks, but she picked up on it. By the time they had been her age, they had both been able to do much more than her. She couldn't even do something as simple as starting a small fire. Still, she wanted very much to make her parents happy, so she tried her very best. She knew how things were supposed to work, the theories behind the small spells she tried, but nothing worked.
When she was twelve, her frustrated parents decided to enroll her in the Ardadale Academy of Witchcraft in East Polten. It was like a boarding school for witches. One of the best out there, so her parents hoped that she would improve there. The only reason she was able to go there was her parents' combined influence. It was several days' travel from her home, though the trip was shortened with magic. She was so nervous for her first day, and yet felt a sense of excitement too. She hoped she could become friends with the other girls she met. This was too idealistic for reality. She found that most of the girls in her assigned dormitory were not as nice as she had expected.. In fact, when they learned of her inability to cast magic, a few of them took to bullying her. The rest just seemed to pity her. She wasn't sure which was worse.
The nights when she cried herself to sleep were innumerable, but she learned several things from this.. The first was that one should not share their troubles. She made the mistake of telling a teacher about it. The bullies were punished, but in the end, this only made things worse for her. Another thing she learned was that she should never let them see her crying. That only seemed to encourage the bullies and made the others seem to feel worse. Raging at them was completely useless as well.
She was able to get along with most of her teachers though. She was a diligent student, always studying hard and making sure she had a firm grasp on what she was learning.. So it was no surprise that she did very well when all they were learning was the theory of a spell. Perhaps she was the best of her classmates when it came to magical knowledge.. But she always completely failed when trying to put it into practice. Still, her academic abilities were noticed by another witch, one who did very well when it came to her spell-work, but not very interested in academics. It started with this witch, Neicaris, just asking to see the detailed notes she often took. Isra was overjoyed that someone was being nice to her, and she was happy to share her notes.
After that, it sort of became a habit for Neicaris to ask to borrow Isra's notes.. And she always agreed. Even though she was just being used, it felt nice that someone at least wasn't pushing her around or acting kind out of pity. Over time, Neicaris started intentionally trying to be paired with her for any assignments that required two or more witches to work together. This naturally led to them talking about other things and, eventually, becoming friends. This was what helped her get through her first year at that academy. In many ways, Neicaris is why Isra is still so nice. At the end of the year, the headmaster quietly recommended that Isra not return for a second year, due to the bullying she had received.. Some of it had been quite severe, and there wasn't much she could do to protect herself from it. When her parents brought it up with her, however, she was adamant that she wanted to return. In the end, they decided to let her go back.
Her second year would go much like the first, with a few notable differences and events. She was still bullied, but she resolved to ignore it and treat them as kindly as they were cruel to her. Sometimes she couldn't ignore it, but she did her best. It was enough to help curb things. Neicaris joined a small study group, and brought Isra with her. The four other witches shared their classes, and there was an upperclassman who helped them out. They would meet in the evenings to study, practice their magic, and generally goof off with each other. Because she couldn't participate when they were practicing spells, she took to leaving to make snacks and tea for everyone instead. It was the only thing she could do. Sometimes she would quietly watch them for a couple minutes when she came back, seeing how they all got along. She felt like such an outsider. She and Neicaris were very different people. She kept her observations to herself, even as she felt like they were growing further apart.
Her third year there would be her most eventful one. The alchemy teacher they used to have retired and was replaced with a sorceress who had once been quite powerful. Due to a curse, this sorceress had lost much of her power, which was what let to her retiring so early in her life. The woman was barely thirty. Still, Isra couldn't help but run into the sorceress, who she knew as Miss Elelyen.
