~Life According To Ellie~
This Journal is all about my thoughts and ideas and pretty much anything I want to type about. Most of the time you will find posts about my adventures here on Gaia, what I do, the people I meet, the experiences I make, the games I play, etc. I hope
Surface 3 is it still relevant in 2017? and who can use it?
I decided to write this post mainly to help out college students in choosing a device that will help them in the classroom and outside of the classroom. I'm a huge fan of the Surface series made by Microsoft I owned the first one to ever come out which was the surface RT, I did not upgrade to the generation Surface 2 when it came out. However, I did upgrade to the Surface 3 nonetheless now in 2017 the Surface 4 is out and the question is Is the Surface 3 still relevant and a good computer to use in 2017 with a new generation being out? I will explain my side and solve the answer in my opinion to this question, it's up to you whether you take my advice or not for this device series.

To be honest, in my opinion I think this is a fabulous device and is still relevant in 2017. Keep in mind I don't have the Surface Pro 3 which has more advanced specs, I have the simple Surface 3 with 64gb of space and 2gb of internal memories (RAM). Nothing special it's the lowest priced one they had however, it does so much and most of the time does what Microsoft's goal was which was to create a tablet that could replace your laptop. With the lowest specs its still a fabulous device, I write, create posts and blog, do projects and papers for school, create powerpoints, check e-mails, play gaia online, and run simple programs. I can do pretty much everything on it. However there are some things that don't meet up to standards. I have an Ipad pro with the apple pencil, the writing is so seamless and an amazing experience. When you write on the Surface 3 it doesn't always pick up your writing with your pen. When can be problematic if your writing by hand, and running out of space sometimes can get annoying but you can use flash drives and external hard drives because there is a USB port on the Surface. Also for those who don't know there is also, a micro SD card slot in the back of it as well. Sometimes newer isn't always better specs might be better but the older one for a student can do everything you need it to do and possibly more. The surface however, is not something to game with. When it comes to gaming you need an actual computer like a desktop or a laptop. However, the Surface can run some light gaming such as apps from the app store, flash games from your internet browser, and for me it was able to run a portable version of the sims 4 fine through my external hard drive. Honestly, If you need something light and portable and does most of the things you need it to do minus the gaming this is a great low cost device. You can find these, new, used, and refurbished online for cheaper than a new laptop you're looking at the highest cost for a new of these being around $300. Which is not bad for something brand new, yes its older technology but is it relevant and can withstand everything you need to do as a student in 2017. ABSOLUTELY without a doubt. I highly recommend if you're on a budget and need something for everyday use to get this device. Because it's older it's cheaper but it does everything you need and sometimes can do more than you can expect.

I hope my opinionated review for students on the Surface 3 was somewhat helpful if I find anything else I want to add onto this, I'll just recreate it and add it in, I've been typing this tired at 2am so I'm not fully here while typing this but I needed something to do to keep mu attention and possibly make me tired and this did the trick. haha!

Stay tuned for more of my posts...
