you think you know a guy
you think you understand
he may act childish
but he swears he's a man

he has his own car
and a place he calls his own
he doesn't live with his parents
and he bought his own home

she was green-eyed
and smitten from the start
chatting it up for hours
falling asleep on their calls

it was a night before the dance
and he asked to take her hand
'will you come and live this night with me?'

she took it for a while
and she wondered through her smile
'why does he act like he's seventeen?'

it's sad to think what could happen
it's sad to know it's a loss
he's so sweet, and he's so fine
but his age for her was not enough
