Memories, thoughts and rants :3
Lost in Tokyo
I was looking at a map on the wall in the dark night in Tokyo, knowing full well that the Japan Rail does not go anywhere near Kayabachō (around the neighborhood of Chuo). The JR is a complicated station that had me hours studying on Youtube. It had me worried that my brother and I would never get back to the hotel, never get back to the airport and be stuck inside Yodobashi - Akiba mall. People were passing by us eager to go home with tired looks on their worn out faces. Teens in their high school uniforms and petite, fashionable ladies with skin that was like porcelain. I was getting desperate and sweaty because my feet were tired from walking all day. My brother and I would trace the map with our fingers (and I barely studying Japanese) and found no way to find our way in the JR map. I gave it a shot because it was the first time in the JR, that I thought I was wrong and it could take us to Kayabacho. No avail.

Suddenly a thin young man approached us with a cautious look on his face. He was as tall, if not shorter, than I was. He wore glasses and a tucked in button up shirt that was pale blue. His black hair was shiny and laid flat on his head. He was a bit tanned, and looked nervous.

He spoke to us in English, but very slowly, "Do...you...need...help?"
His voice was so quiet, but you could understand him loud and clear.
"Yes, please, we want to go to Kayabacho." I said, desperately.
This man suddenly turned very animated. "AH! KAYABACHOOOO?"
His nervousness suddenly took off and he was so confident now and laid his fingers on his chin as he looked at the map with us. My brother traced the map again and shook his head. "I don't think we can reach it from JR."
We said, "THANK YOU, ARIGATO!!" and waved at him, but he didn't hear us.
He took out his cell phone and started typing in it. I thought, eh he gave up on us, so we left.

The streets were crowded with people, it was hot for an October night, but nonetheless I wanted to enjoy the night and know I was experiencing the moment.

"Hey at least we're lost in Tokyo."

I wanted to smack my brother haha. We traced our steps, but it's interesting how different things appear from day to night. Also, when time hit 4 or 5 pm in Japan, the night appears so quickly. I was amazed by that, and the salty air was nice~

We walked by every shop we remembered, and I got my iPhone out using this app that I downloaded that helped me so much along the way. My mom had to pay an extra service fee for us to use our phones in Japan.

Suddenly we hear running foot steps in the crowded area and here comes the man from before. He had to catch his breath for a second as he stopped beside me and he says something like, "Follow me!"

I was scared and looked at my brother and shook my head.

"Come on Steph! He's helping us!"

"Eli, please be careful, don't get too close, we don't know where he might be taking us!!"

My brother just pulled me into the crowd and we followed the man, and my GOODNESS did he walk ultra fast for a short guy. I was scared and I think I was praying to God to protect us, to watch over us, because unlike America...You can't just trust anybody.

We had to run to keep up with him and he moved so gracefully in the crowd, just like a cat with fluid motions. He extended his arms to show us the Monorail station crying <3 just the one we needed (Hibiya Line).

It was crowded with people, absolutely crowded. We said our thank you's so many times to the man. I was over joyed with gratitude that I was so close to bear hugging the guy. But knowing that it's not a Hispanic culture, I didn't hug him. I didn't wanted to embarrass him or anything hehe. He waved at me and my brother good bye.

I was so touched by such a kind gesture, never had I experienced a person go out of their time to help me and my brother in such a caring way. Maybe it was God who put him in our path to help us (an angel 4laugh ) lol.

I still think about that man, WISHING WITH ALL MY HEART I could turn back time and ask for his information to treat him to dinner, to become friends...

I can only pray and ask God to bless his kind heart.

It happened again though xD when me and my brother were on our way to the hotel from Ikebukuro (we went to the Pokemon Center). A man with a cuuuuuuuuuuute baby seated on the back of his neck approached us with a smile.

"Do you need any help?" he said it with such confidence it surprised me.
"OH no, thank you! We found our way, thank you, thank you!"
He nodded with a smile and the baby hiding his face from us. That child was so cuuuute >///< I want one gahhh.

If there's one thing I have learned is to help others, indeed. Everywhere we went we were treated with kindness and with patience. I am enamored everyday by Japan. Hope to go back soon >w<;;; Had to share lol~
