Hot Summer
The usual temperatures for mid summer here go from above 80 F to nearly 100 F. I'm sure by August, it will peak 100 F (and slightly over).

Summer heat is just one of the seasons to cause people to use a lot of electricity. And depending what kind of energy source you use, it can be detrimental to the environment! For instance, if you aren't using renewable energy, you can easily be contributing to the production of CO2, a harmful green house gas. It contributes to increasing Earth's heat in the atmosphere.

What most people don't know is that most of the CO2 gets absorbed by the ocean, which sounds good, but really isn't.

When CO2 interacts with the ocean, it turns into acid, making the ocean more acidic. This process is known as "ocean acidification". Every year, the ocean gets slightly more acidic. A slight change in the ocean's pH level can be harmful to certain marine lifes, such as coral reefs, clams, oysters, sea snails, and more. These animals' lives are harmed by the increasing acidity.

Not only are coral reefs home to many other animals, but they are important components in the food chain and our source of food.

I just hope that you have at least learned something new from this. 3nodding Ocean Acidification is a real thing, and is caused by global warming overall.

Please protect our planet earth. Green house gas is a real concern to our environment! cat_gonk

I ended up ranting a bit about Ocean Acidification, but it really is a big issue that many people don't know about and it is linked to our increasingly hot temperatures. cat_sweatdrop
