Scammed in Tokyo: Keep Away From Fraud Travel Agencies
Are you planning your trip to Asia? Japan is a nice place to include on your travel bucket list. It’s a country with rich culture and traditions. The capital Tokyo, is a bustling city, but is also filled with interesting sights and sounds.

However, before you go on your journey to the Land of the Rising Sun, you have to take note of some things that are essential for your travel such as buying a plane ticket, booking a hotel, searching for different travel spots you may include on your itinerary, preparing things you will use during your travel, and more. If you want to skip the tedious process and make the travel planning much easier, you may seek out assistance from travel agents or travel and tour agencies. They may help you create an itinerary or give you travel promotions that may include airfare, hotel and even entrance fees for the tour.

On the other hand, you have to be careful in choosing for a travel agency that you will take into service. There are recent reports about travel agencies engaging in fraud acts. It is better to look for trusted agencies like Carlton Church Travel and Tours that will give you superb services.

There has been news featured on Japan Today about a travel agency that has been closed March last year due to numerous reports. According to Tokyo city officials, the Shibuya Travel Plaza has been suspected of being a scam. April came and the Consumer Affairs Agency received more and more complaints from customers who are concerned about the tickets they booked and paid for online.

The travel agency was located in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward. More than 600 customers who sought their services and reserved plane tickets for Golden Week filed their complaints. No one has been able to contact the agency since the end of March and the customers never received the tickets they paid for.

The clients reported that they purchased tickets from the agency and spent more than 300,000 yen. One of the clients expressed his disappointed and told how the company got his travel funds for him and his wife. He booked a trip to Kyushu for four days and three nights and paid the fees in full. The payment amounted to 94,000 yen. He tried to reach out and contact the travel agency because he did not receive the tickets. He carlton church expressed his frustration, “All of my excitement about the trip was crushed. I don’t even know what to say.”

Transact only with trusted travel agency

Do not let this incident happen to you. To prevent from being scammed, do background checks about the company first before doing any transactions. Review their reliability reports. Check for forums or articles if the company has received warning from authorities or complaints from customers.
