Hope

Well what do we have here it seems someone wants to read me, well lets get on with the story shall we. This story focuses on one man a man named Han who loses quiet a bit in his life friends, most of his family, his pet cat and most if not all his possessions the only thing he kept through loosing most of everything was a pocket watch his mother gave him for a present before she passed that seemed to have stopped the same time his mother left this world, and his clothes on his back and a promise he made to never give up.
Well life got hard after awhile through packing up some things that were his moms and the responsibilities she had that now had transferred to him like keeping the family together which was impossible for him because everyone split up after she died and he didn't blame them because she was the centerpiece in the family who kept everything in contact with one another and well he was a nobody who didn't talk and rarely socialized with anyone or with any of the family. So after a few failed attempts of trying to keep in contact with everyone it seemed like it was going to work but then no one called, a day turned into a week which turned into a month with no calls from any of the family then a couple days later he decided to hell with it and went an bought a bottle of whiskey he had come to like and drank it all night finally finishing it and was more drunk then he’s ever been.
After a while he began cussing and shouting obscene things about the family well come to find out some of the family came around that same night to surprise him, his brother with his fiance and now 1 year old daughter came to see him and to ask him to be his best man at the wedding they were going to have in a couple months, but after hearing what he had said his brother and his fiance and there daughter packed back into the car and before they drove off his brother said until he gets sober and apologizes not to even show up at the wedding and drove away. He started to run and tripped over watching his brother drive away in his mind he had already apologized and was yelling out saying please come back don't go but what came out was the opposite cussing them out and saying good riddance saying he never wanted them around anyway then he passed out.
The next day he awoke to the worst and first hangover he's had and doesn’t even remember what he had done but does remember saying don't leave please don't go but doesn't remember he had only said that in his mind and seeing his brother speed away never to return so he got depressed loosing another family member mainly do to not remembering. Well a couple months passed and he had learned that his brother had gotten married and he didn't get invited he tried to call his brother but no answer so he hung up and soon as he did the phone rang he picked up and as he did his bossed said he was sorry to do this but he is let go they couldn't employ someone who isn't motivated enough to work there, which is ridiculous because he went to work and did just his job sometimes he finished faster than usual but did the job and didn't slack off or goof off but yet got fired crazy right that’s not the worst of it. That same day as he was going home after returning his work uniform and supplies he found his stuff on the porch and a note from the landlord saying since not having paid the rent for a couple months with ample warning and given an eviction notice stating if half of back rent is not paid then the landlord has the right to throw said person out and on the back the note also said his pet cat had been taken away to the humane society.
He had no way to get his cat out or even if he did anyone to be able to keep it until he could get back on his feet again. So in one fell swoop he lost his job, his place to live, his cat and since he had very little cash on him all his stuff but a single backpack he had stuffed with a couple pairs of clothes some books and some mementos and left everything else behind even hope. Since he had nothing to go back to he began his homeless life in the men’s shelter, every night he would stare at the pocket watch his mother had given him trying to figure out why his mother even gave it to him, then a stray thought crept up and he began to think and decided he would give up because his mother put her trust in the wrong son. So when morning came he made sure all his stuff in the shelter was nice and neat and went out to eat smiling at just about every one with a fake smile that no one saw past, after he had eaten and written a note and put it in his pocket and left and didn't go back to the shelter and midnight came as he was walking past a fast-food restaurant a woman came out she was locking up and turned to seem him walking past as he did he fake smiled at her to and she saw through it and asked what’s wrong cause to her in looked like he was on the verge of tears. He just fake smiled once more and looked up saying the stars are so bright tonight and its a fine night to end everything, as he said that a tear rolled down his cheek and said goodbye and walked away.
She had felt uneasy about what he had said so she followed him all the way to a parking garage all the way up to the top floor she hid behind one of the cars watching him he jumped onto the ledge of the parking garage and looked down then looked up smiling that fake smile and then a gust a wind came and as she watched she saw the tear drops blowing in the wind, the moons light reflecting in each tear as they dropped and then she heard him saying goodbye world and he closed his eyes and began to shift his body forward intending to fall off the building to his death, before she could think she was running towards him dropping her purse and barely manages to grab his shirt and pulled backwards pulling him back over the ledge and falling backwards onto the concrete. As she was trying to catch her breath she her him crying so bad she began crying and didn't understand why she was. He heard her crying and looked at her and he asked her why she stopped him, all she could say was because she wanted to as he heard her say that he laid back laughing saying that’s just crazy and she started laughing saying not as crazy as trying to take your own life in such a cliche type of way.
He stopped laughing and asked what her name was, she asked why should I tell you he said so I can remember the name of the one who saved me. She said her name is Hope when he heard that he started laughing again she asked why he was laughing all he said between laughs is "hope saved me".
