Don’t accept metrics

IT people love using metrics to demonstrate the way they are leading to your small business. The catch is most of these metrics don’t demonstrate anything. Sure, high uptimes sound great and occasional mean-time resolutions are probably an excellent, but wait, how do these impact your company? Don’t arbitrarily accept these as signs IT is leading to the value of your bottom line. Dig deeper and have an explanation as to why these metrics matter. There's a reason your IT department wants you to see these metrics, but it's vital that you have them explain it.
