Proposal

• We’re doing a survey on how students feel about homework to see if a majority of students feel that homework is more useful for their education, or detrimental to their sleeping schedule/social lives.

• We believe that this survey is important because it can shine a light on whether or not homework actually assists students in learning or whether it’s simply an annoyance to be dealt with upon returning home from school.



• In order to get fair and unbiased results from our subjects, we each (the three of us) asked ten random students during out lunch periods. Each of these students was randomly chosen to avoid bias.


• Potential risks and discomforts: There is minimal risk of physical or emotional discomfort as a result of this study.



• Potential benefits: The benefits of this study include a better understand of how students feel about homework and how it may affect their daily lives. Examples include, but are not limited to: Sleep, sociality, peer relationships, and stress. We believe a better understanding is necessary to assist students in their actual learning process whilst at school instead of at home.





Research Procedures/Methods


1. To start, we each are given a set of survey questions

2. During our lunch period, we ask ten random students the survey questions and record them on a sheet of paper

3. After asking all ten students and recording the results, we return to our group and share the results

4. After sharing the results, we compare and contrast answers.


5. We complete our survey after comparing and contrasting the answers we received from our random subjects



Confidentiality and Deception
• In order to be sure our subjects remain anonymous, we didn’t ask for their names during the survey.


• We felt that we didn’t need to deceive any of our random subjects, so no deception was necessary for the completion of this study.
