I see the truth of the nightmare before me, I know of its poison everyday I breathe.
I hear the hate in every word spoken, hate so thick it leaves a bad taste in my mouth a taste so vile it corrupts.
I know without a doubt you see my pain; frosted over my eyes leaving me blind, turn me about as the world goes dark. Lost in the void of inner destruction, twisted beyond recognition, made to be ashamed of my own reflection I am damned.
Left with nothing not even salvation, left without a prayer or hope I have become the shadow among civilization. Ever alert to the sins of humanity, for I have seen many wonders, I have tasted many delights but none are compared to what I know. Drowning in a sea of uncertainty, I bleed so I know I am still alive. Shattered remains are all that linger, but I am told I am a survivor, but am I really? A coward among soldiers is I, pretending to fight when all I want is to hide. Afraid to die but this is where I lay, a crumpled heap among the dead. Blackness fills the sky as it rains lost tears, while the living recall times of peace. Left alone I mourn, haunted by all I once knew, in the end all that remains is bitter ashes turned to dust in my mouth.
