Alright, I have just recently viewed 8213: Gracy House, and I must say that while I myself am no skeptic towards the realms of the supernatural, this movie really makes it hard to believe that they really even tried with this movie. It kind of looks a tad bit amateur-ish in my opinion.
A Bit About The Movie
8213: Gacy House or Paranormal Entity 2: Gacy House is a 2010 American horror film by The Asylum. The film is directed by Anthony Fankhauser and acts as a loose prequel to The Asylum's 2009 film Paranormal Entity, and a mockbuster of the film Paranormal Activity 2.
A Bit About The Plot
A group of paranormal investigators enter the abandoned home of serial killer John Gacy, hoping to find evidence of paranormal activity. Upon entering the house they set up cameras throughout the abandoned house while going room to room with hand-held cameras, performing séances and asking for John Gacy to come forward. As the evening progresses it seems the investigators are not prepared for the horror still within the house.
Reviews From Rotten Tomatoes
In a moment of pure boredom I checked out this flick. It's one of the "found footage" direct to disc flicks that tried to cash in on the sub genre and it just doesn't work. A lot of the movie is pointless and jumps around too much not giving us time to care about any of the characters. The acting is bad and the story is worse. Forced nudity at the climax of the movie puts it over the top.
There are a couple scenes where the scares work but it's not enough to recommend anyone seeing this movie ~ J. Spencer: rating - 1 star
Camcorder or "found footage" films are inherently lazy, but they're cheap to make, so a lot of filmmakers are making them in the hopes that they will be the next Blair Witch or Paranormal Activity. 8213: Gacy House is one of these films and at first glance it looks like it's got everything it needs to be a winner. A serial killer, the paranormal, and a young good looking cast are usually the recipe for a very successful movie, but not here. I don't care much for these types of films to begin with, the acting is usually shitty and the constant movement of the camera makes me nauseous, but those aren't the only reasons to dislike 8213. The story makes no sense whatsoever and before making something like this, you'd think the director would have watched at least a couple episodes of Ghost Hunters. What kind of paranormal investigator goes ghost hunting with a half dozen people and then leaves the lights on!? Besides that huge flaw in the film, they're always saying they can feel something, with no evidence or hint that there's anything wrong, and when they do feel something, that's usually when nothing happens! The acting is awful, the cinematography is nauseating, the story is ridiculously stupid, and the special effects are complete garbage. The bottom line, 8213: Gacy House is a waste of a rental. ~ T. Ridiculous and horrible. This is nothing like the paranormal activity franchise although it tries to be. Not scary, but laughable. ~ S. Prisbylla: rating - 1/2 star
