"Don't have opinions and tell others to have them too" is what pretty much everyone says. But then again, I have no idea if you actually DID THAT YOURSELF when growing up (or still do) or if you were kind of enough to never have anyone tell you that your opinions were always s**t.
It aggravates me when I'm trying to just get a sensible reason for a dislike of something, which is mainly because I don't get the reasoning, but that's kind of it. I DON'T get it, so an explanation would be nice. Saying instead it's just "my opinion and deal with it" rubs me the wrong way because then you're setting up to say you may actually have a flawed opinion or might not understand the material enough to see where all the good stuff is.
I say this being biased as ********, but whatever, I retreated to here anyway since god forbid I post an opinion on anything and ask some people actually agree with it.
One thing people should know, but will never give a s**t because life's tough and get over yourself, is that my entire life others have forced their opinions on me. ALWAYS. Since I was a kid, and especially in my teenage years. I HAD TO LIKE the thing they liked. JUST HAD TO. ******** individuality. So I do ask for a lot when I try to ask others understand my viewpoint FIRST before instantly rejecting it because it's not theirs. Yes, I'm doing the same to your viewpoint, but my biased ******** is saying, "look, I've kind of studied this material. I know what I'm talking about. Just hear me out first, please." But of course not. The material is apparently "so amazing it can't be bad" or "massively flawed" yet said flaws have everything to do with... Oh god. I'm going to use the word. HEADCANONS.
This just in: ******** SHIPPING. If a story or anything else ruins your "ship" of characters, you can go rightfully piss off. The canon is canon for that reason, and you can go make your own AUs elsewhere. If you're going to complain something is flawed because they didn't handle a character right: ******** YOU. THEY'RE NOT YOUR CHARACTERS.
I'm just extremely frustrated because I'm really happy to know there are actually fans of Uprising, but all of them seem to HATE the game's story because it was poorly written. UHM. HOW? Said people also then gush about how great Kingdom Hearts is as a series. I call so much bullshit. So. much. bullshit.
There's a great huge vast difference in the choice of dialogue, setting and character development that Sakurai, as one of the sole scenario writers of Uprising, just UNDERSTOOD. He understood the idea of how to create a good relationship between Pit and Palutena WITHOUT making it romantic. He understood how to portray Pit as kind of silly kid, but still actually have a backbone worth a damn. He created characters for this game that actually have intelligent dialogue to the point that they CAN joke around and bounce off each other. He WROTE CHARACTERS. Why any of them are "flawed" is something I don't get. They are written first and foremost, as characters, not as tools for advancing the plot. This is ******** HUGE. Hades' reasoning for what he's doing, as Viridi's, Palutenta's, etc. isn't JUST because it's a game (though they do fourth wall break time to time to lighten the tone), it's because they all have actual motivations, as characters, that they feel should be made their ultimatum. The people Pit encounters are not just a random-a** brute or the sub-boss of one of the antagonists, they're written as people. They do things like question why the hell Pit would go into a trap, or try to flirt with him to catch him off guard, they do things that MAKE THEM HUMAN. And that's the genius of the game's writing, and because these characters feel human, when s**t does go bad, there's a lot at stake. You feel betrayed in some scenes with how jarringly contrast some of the characters act due to events, because you knew the character they had before. None of them ever felt like they were just there for the sake of being there, they all played an integral role in a plot that was actually well-written, much better than any JRPG in the last decade.
Then you have Kingdom Hearts, in which other than our now GOD OF A VILLAIN, all the characters are ******** morons. They're cookie-cutter, shallow interpretations of basic concepts like "light" and "darkness" and "heart." They're amount to contribution to the plot is almost zilch now with the advent of retconning. Basically anything important that has happened was due to the villain and his manipulation of everyone. This pretty much states that the characters really had no choice in what they did, and weren't really doing anything to question it. They have really stupid crises of, "oh no, how can I beat the bad guy without beating the bad guy?" or "how can I keep on fighting without fighting?" which their answer is awfully shallow being "I just beat the bad guy then" and "I will just keep fighting!" Thanks for the pointless diversion. This makes it more insulting considering the Disney worlds which, a lot of the films had some heavy messages and DEVELOPED characters. Nah, ******** that. Those aren't Nomura's characters, Nomura don't give a ********. Hell, the amount of ******** given is so far that he'll even ******** up his own s**t just to make our main characters look all the more holy/demonic. IT'S A CRIME to think this is a better written series than KIU. THERE'S MORE PLOT HOLES IN ONE GAME THAN THERE IS AN EPISODE OF ONCE UPON A TIME. And considering one game takes about 30+ hours and an episode of Once is only an hour, that's pretty huge.
I just needed to get this off my chest somewhere because, GOD. I ******** LOVE KID ICARUS UPRISING. It is still my favorite 3DS game, and will probably not be topped unless there's a Kirby game that is infinitely more awesome. It pains me to see when people mistake GOOD writing for characters that are s**t. NONE of the characters in Uprising are s**t. I'm sorry. THEY ARE ALL GOOD. You may not like them, and that is fine, but they are well-written three dimensional characters that actually weave a much more interesting plot than the bullshit KH has now come up with.
It's like saying you think Twilight is better written than Harry Potter. And if you say that you're an idiot, sorry to say.
Ciao ********.
