History Feylarian Magic is, first and foremost, foreign magic. It did not originate in the Four Kingdoms, and is not very widespread. The main reason for this is because the Feylarian King has forbidden anyone who posses any of the three magics to travel outside of the Islands. However, like with any rule, there are those that do so anyways. The magic users that do escape the Kingdom, however, are few and far in between. Because most Feylarians do not wish to bother themselves with outside kingdoms, most, even those without magic, don't travel much. Now, that being said, only three caring any magic was exiled from the country, a noble and two commoners; Dyniet Roukmol (Senmav's father), and his last, remaining servants. He won't be the only one of Feylarian decent, of course, but as it was stated before, most people of Feylari don't travel unless it is necessary.
Now, as to how the magic was developed in the first place, that is not clear. There are no texts as to how it came to be, and the people aren't entirely sure as to where the magic comes from, but it is widely believed among the people three Angels descended onto the people at a terrible time in their history and granted three individuals, known as the Trzech Mędrców* (Three Sages), powers above that of the normal people to bring about peace to the Islands. But,as it was stated above, there is no way to confirm, or disprove, that superstition. However, there are three families that associated with each 'type': The Royal Family (Mind), the Roukmol family (Body) and the Cheklan family (Psychic). The are also known as "Czyste Rodziny" (Pure Families), since each family only ever has wielders of their own Branch. There are other families that have the magics, and some of these others even have two in the same family, but these three families are the strongest in their perspective Branch, which has led to all of Feylari to believe that they are the direct descendants of the ones blessed by the Angels.
So, what has brought this strange magic to the Continent of the Four Kingdoms? Well, to put it plainly, Dyniet was charged with the murder of his entire house, save for his first born. Now, while that is not true, the evidence was against him in every way possible. The King knew he did not do it. For a long time, longer than anyone can remember (through text or not), the members of the Roukmol house had been the Royal Family's closest guards. The two houses were as close as they could be and still not be related. However close Dyniet was to the King, he could not escape the crimes. As a way to avoid killing the last surviving, adult member of the Roukmol household, the King exiled Dyniet instead of sentencing him to death; despite the fact he was the Head of the Roukmol House, therefore head of the Royal Guard, and his family was on of the "Pure Families". Thus, the magic has leaked to the Four Kingdoms.
The Magic There are three branches, or types, of Feylarian Magic: Mind, Body and Psychic. Each is unique and vastly different, but they have shockingly eerie similarities. Each Branch enhances its respective "conduit" to allow for abilities beyond normal limitations. On their own, an individual with any one of the Magics is dangerous and someone to be cautious of, but having one of each fighting with each other can be down right deadly. Of course, how strong the wielder is in the magic depends on how strong their "conduit" is (e.i., a person with Mind magic and a weak mind will be weak in their magic). Also, each Branch takes a heavy toll on its respective "conduit". xxxxxxMind: Mind Magic is focused on the user's mind. Mind Magic amplifies natural abilities, such as memorization, focus, and mental processing (also, those with Mind Magic tend to have better reading and writing skills), but it also allows the wielder to do things not completely natural. For starters, a wielder of the Mind Branch can read minds, use telekinesis, and possibly break a person's mind (making them insane). However, a Mind Branch wielder cannot force another person to do what they want (it's widely believed that's because the Angels respected free will, and would not give a gift to compromise that). How strong the wielder is, and what they can do, depends solely on how strong their own mind is, and what condition it is in. xxxWhat does it mean to have a 'weak' or 'strong' mind? Well, it's this. Those of the wielders who can't control their thoughts, let their minds wander or basically can't pay attention for more than a few minutes are 'weak minded'. 'Strong minded' wielders, on the other hand, don't get distracted easily, are always focused on their decided task and they always, always, think things through. They never act on impulse. The reason for that is because the more they use their ability, the more 'tired' their mind gets. They will start to loose focus, get headaches and even pass out from taxing their mind too much. Use it too much, and they can, literally, loose their mind. xxxAs for the condition of the mind, if their mind isn't whole, or is broken in any way, their Magic will also suffer. Their Magic depends on the soundness of their mind, so if it is damaged in any way, shape or form, their magic will be noticeably weaker. xxxxxxBody: Body Magic is focused on the user's body. It amplifies natural abilities such as strength, speed, endurance and the senses, but, while it doesn't give the wielders any drastic magical abilities, it does seem to give the wielders a better understanding on the tools the use, whether it be weapons, farm tools or tools of another trade. It also makes those with Body Magic less susceptible to injury, either from weapons or from straining the body, which almost never happens. Even when not activated, a wielder of the Body Branch seems to have boundless energy, and seem to never grow tired. Now, how strong they actually become is, yet again, solely dependent on how strong their body is, and in what condition it is in. However, unlike the Mind and Psychic Branches, there are three levels of Body Magic; Wojownik, Komandos and Niszczyciel (Warrior, Commando and Destroyer). xxxTo get a strong body is easy, Body Magic wielders do a lot of exercise, always keeping active. To not is almost a death sentence. The reason for that is because the three levels require the user's own energy. The higher the level, the higher the energy consumption. It also takes a lot of energy, to use Body Magic, so Body Branch users tend to eat and sleep a lot after using their magic. The higher the level, the more food and sleep they need. xxxIf the Body Branch user is sick their magic will be weaker. Food poisoning does count as 'being sick', but it is over rather quickly. Body Branch wielders go to great lengths to make sure that they don't get sick, on top of their fantastic immune system. There are cases, however, of Body Branch wielders being born with weak bodies. xxxxxxPsychic: Psychic Magic focuses on the user's psyche, or soul. Of the Three Branches, Psychic Magic users are the most revered by the people. The Psychic Magic does not enhance any natural abilities; instead, it gives the wielder completely supernatural powers. Users of the Psychic Branch can see the future (but the future is not set in stone, what they really see is possibilities of what can happen), read a person's past, see people's auras and determine whether or not a person is righteous or evil (most of the time, people tend to be good), even see the auras of inanimate things (i.e., swords, trees, walls, etc.), and, the weirdest part, they can even warp a person's 'soul'. Some of the most powerful Psychic Branch users have been said to even drain other people's psyche, but that practice is forbidden. They can't make people do what they want, but they can influence a person's choices, or even warp their 'essence' into something unrecognizable. You might be wondering what the Psychic Magic wielder's magic draws its strength from, and you are very right to do so. Their magic depends on their life energy. It's not physical energy like those of the Body Branch, or even mental energy like those of the Mind Branch. Life energy is the energy that keeps people wanting to live, and that's what Psychic Branch wielders use to power their magic. It's a very dangerous practice, but also a very powerful one. xxxTo be a Psychic Branch wielder, the user has to have a strong will and enough life energy to sustain them through the usage. If they don't, they will simply die. Psychic Branch magic is the rarest of the Three Branches, and as such, none have been recorded as missing or have left the Islands.
How to Fight Feylarian Magic The first way to fight Feylarian Magic is to recognize it, and understand the politics of it. If you can't do that, they are in trouble.
First off, the strongest of any of the Three Magics is Psychic. Try not to mess a Psychic Branch user is possible. You can tell a Psychic Branch wielder mainly by their blindness, but there is another sign. They tend to have a glow about them, even when not using their magic, but it is intensified when their magic is activated to the point on light actually coming off of them. But, if you do find yourself in a fight with one, do not assume that killing them will be easy because they are blind. Yes, all Psychic Magic wielders are born blind. The people of Feylari believe that is because the First Psychic gave his sight to be able to see the future. Their abilities to see the future can be tuned to their opponent, and thus used to keep themselves alive. They can also feel the shift in one's psyche when one is about to attack, this ability is always active, even if the Magic is not. However, there is a way to bypass this. Have a partner. Psychic Magic wielders can only target one person, place or thing (or even an event, but it has to significantly affect a large amount of people to count) at a time. The weaker Psychic Branch wielders will be easier to fight, since they don't have as much control over their powers as the stronger ones do. If one attacks you, overloading the abilities by attacking repeatedly and quickly is you best bet. Just because they can see the future doesn't mean they can act on it. Their body is naturally weaker than normal. Another thing to remember, the strongest Psychic Branch wielder one will ever face is from Cheklan family. Luckily, they never leave Feylari.
For the Mind Branch users, it's not as dangerous. Yes, they can read a person's mind and what not, but they can't change who a person is. Still, being made into a drooling idiot is not a pleasant future. An easy way to recognize a Mind Magic user is that they are always quick witted and highly intelligent. They seem to know almost everything, and never forget a single item of data. When they activate their magic, their eyes glow gold, it doesn't matter what their eyes were before, they will always be gold when they use their magic. Only the Royal Family of Feylari have naturally golden eyes, and they are the strongest in the Branch, but they still glow when magic is used. A way to fight them is use poisons and toxins that effect the mind. If their mind is impaired, so will their magic. Another way is to out last them in a fight, they can't use their magic forever, so if one were to fight them long enough, they could over power a Mind Magic user with brute strength, but good luck lasting long enough to do so.
As for the Body Branch wielders, recognizing them is a little more difficult. They could be any farmer who works hard in the field, or any soldier that trains extra. But, all hope is not lost. They are physically larger than life, which does help to blend in with the non-magic people. Also, as was stated before, they seem to have endless energy. They rarely sit still, and have a tendency to act without thinking. When they do activate their magic, there is no glowing, but energy comes off of them as immense heat waves. The higher the level, the hotter the heat. It's actually enough to cause their clothes and hair to 'flap in the wind', or so it appears. The easiest and most simple way to fight a Feylarian Body Magic user is to use poisons and toxins, or perhaps enhanced diseases. Trying to fight one, doesn't matter how strong, will only end badly for the person fighting a Body Branch wielder. They are strong, even without their magic. Though, they will listen to talk most of the time. They dislike using their magic to hurt others...Most of the time. As with the other two Branches, the Roukmol family is the strongest in the Body Magic, and the only ones who can reach the third level. Also, there is one more thing that is different about the Body Branch, a side effect that is devastating to the Body Magic user. Body Magic cannot be used in bodies of water. It is not known why that is, exactly, but it has been proven through multiple accidents that if a Body Branch wielder tries to either activate or use their magic in any body of water (ponds, lakes, rivers, streams, etc.; just not puddles) the magic seems to be absorbed by the water, draining the wielder of almost all of their energy. In some isolated cases, the wielder has actually died because there wasn't enough energy left in their body for their heart to beat. Rain is excluded, again the reason is unknown, but it has been noted that Body Magic users get extremely tired when it does rain. Now, the effects of water controlled by another magic user is unknown, but it can be expected that it will have severe negative effects on the Body Branch wielder.
A note from the wise, seeing as Feylarians rarely leave the Islands, they rarely encounter other types of magic. So, they may be caught off guard against such magics, and could be defeated that way.
