The Path of a Future Novelist
I was sitting in my room reading a book and thought about how I made the choice to become a writer.

In my 7th grade English class, we had a class assignment that required us to write an original story based on our favorite movie, show or book and insert ourselves. The first thing that came into my head was the episode of Spongebob where he and Squidward were delivering a pizza. I had that episode memorized (still do) and added myself. I wanted the writing to be like how it is in books and just thought about Harry Potter and how the author wrote it. I read over it and was quite proud of it.
Finally it was time to share. I was second to read our progress. I was scared at first cause I didn't know if everyone would like it or not. But when it was my turn, my nervousness vanished. I read it aloud and everyone, including the teacher, started laughing cause of the funny scenes I put in it. By the end, everyone was clapping and telling me it was well-written and that I did an excellent job. That alone boosted my confidence as well as sparked something in me that changed me. I realized what my special talent was.
However, I didn't write an actual story until my junior year in high school. It was a Kingdom Heart fan fiction I thought about on the way to the bus stop. I began writing it about a week later. I also began writing my first original novel. I had a few chapters typed up, sadly the flash drive it was on was lost. But then another idea came into my head. This one I wrote in a notebook (now typed up on a flash drive; 4 chapters in).
My idea to actually publish a story of mine came to me while reading Harry Potter. If J.K. Rowling can write a successful series, why can't I? So...to this day I have more stories I'm working on, as well as fan fictions that are posted on FanFiction.net and continuing towards my goal while in college, majoring in Journalism.
Sometimes it's fun to go back in time and see how you came to be who you are and how you got into your current hobbies and discovered your talents. Analyzing yourself actually helps you focus on the goals you are working towards or help you decide a goal to work towards. Try it sometime and you'll understand. cat_3nodding
