A ranger was always keenly aware of their surroundings, they had to be in order to be able to work with it. Jamie noticed her friend as he came over, but that didn't mean she was anymore pleased. If that had been one of her rangers showing up so late, she certainly would have punished them. If it were an emergency you should be precisely on time and not a minute late. And while this was no emergency, the ranger was somewhat irked that her friend had not found their meeting so important to be there on time. She had actually been there early. But why should she be all military-sharp? He might have run into things that stopped him from being on time. If she was too harsh, it might ruin their reunion. So she swallowed her words and stuck with: "You're late."

Even Buddy, her Arcanine narrowed his eyes at Lucus. It wasn't that he didn't recognize him, because Growlithes and Arcanines had the best noses out there. He wouldn't have ever forgotten such a familiar scent. He, also, was displeased by the tardiness. The beast had grown just as comfortable in his leadership position as his partner and was accustomed to those who abide to the rules and jurisdiction. At the greeting, Buddy simply flicked back his ears and snorted in complete disdain. He rolled his eyes, as if echoing what Jamie had just said.

Jamie stood, nonetheless, sitting was no way to greet a friend... even if he was late. He had gotten much older, which was expected when so much time had passed. But his dark hair and many of his features were very much the same from when she had last seen them. Even his... peculiar sense of fashion was there. There wasn't a doubt that the person in front of her was the Lucus that she had parted with when they began their own, very different, journeys. She accepted the embrace, but with a vengeance. The muscle she had put on wasn't for show. "It's so nice to finally see you," she told him thru a wry smile as she squeezed as hard as she could.

She finally released him and took a seat again, petting Buddy a few times. "So now that you're finally here, tell me what you've been up to. Any closer to being a master? I bet you've already got yourself a considerable amount of fangirls," she mused, taking a sip of her cappuccino, which, ironically, had a few pieces of Arcanine fur in it.
