Man/mankind is evil.

No good deed or righteous act we do can save us or take us to heaven, since the law's only purpose was to show us our sin.
"All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags...." - Isaiah 64:6
"Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin." - Romans 3:20
Believers will go to Heaven, and all who reject the gift of God's salvation will go to Hell.
"Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels...." - Matthew 25:41
"For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment....if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment." 2 Peter 2:4,9
"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." - Matthew 10:28

God came down to earth as Jesus the Christ, and He offered Himself as a sacrifice on the cross, and took our punishment in our place, despite who we were, rising again on the third day.
"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures...." 1 Corinthians 15:3,4
"The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day." Luke 9:22
"So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle." - John 19:16-18
Trusting in Jesus' atoning death on the cross and resurrection is the only way to be saved.
"But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus." Romans 3:21-26
"And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness...." Romans 4:5
