Flavio sighed a little to himself from the back of the car. His parents were chattering away in the front with all of the adventures from their own university days, and frankly, he was sick of it.
"What if I wanted to major in something else?" He suggested quietly when they finally became silent.
His father turned around, glaring at the boy with one yellowed eye and snarling. Flavio yelped a little and squished himself back in his seat in fear.
"Because Yuglies are scary! We've always been scary, and we always will be!"
Flavio privately thought his father would indeed be terrifying, even in old age, but he didn't feel the same way about himself. His bottom lip wobbled a little and his mother, who was driving (she always had to drive because she had hands unlike his father) spoke up too.
"Oh leave him alone, Puglius! He's just nervous. Aren't you, Flavie~"
The teenager in the back screwed his face up in embarrassment, wrinkling his nose. Hopefully his parents would never arrive on campus and call him that.
The facial reaction caused Flavio's father to break into a grin.
"There ya go, son! You've got the Yuglies spirit in ya. You'll be fine." He reached a paw over and ruffled Flavios long red hair, then turned back around.
Flavio peered at his reflection in the window and smoothed his face back down from its disgusted expression, wondering if he wanted to look like a Yuglies anyway. A degree in scaring just seemed like too much responsibility.
