So.... Easter. I never really enjoyed easter. All people do is go on hunts for plastic eggs filled with chocolate and talk about how some zombie came out of a tomb. Not really fun or memorable. At least to me it isn't. The only easter I actually remember from when I was younger was when I insisted that we dye eggs for the event because I wanted colorful real eggs. Not those plastic things. They still tasted like eggs, but they were colorful and me and my dad were the ones who colored them. It was fun, though since we didn't have any dye in the house we just ended up pulling the insides out of markers and boiled them. Dad got new markers to replace the ones we ruined and we had a blast prettying up the eggs. I can remember that, but not one of the plastic egg hunts or telling of the zombie guy stories. Dad may have even gotten me a basket or two when i was younger, but I don't remember those either. Ahh, quality time over consumer bullsh*t. If I ever have kids I'll try doing the same thing with them, probably not with marker insides though.

Easter is also a holiday that is not entirely christian. The eggs, rabbits and flowers all represent birth, life, rebirth, and all of them have a connection to sex. Since spring is the time of year when the weather warms up and plants seem to come back to life and animals give birth, the connection should be easy enough to make. Eggs are small enough to fit into a person's hand and they will hatch into babies should they be fertilized and allowed to develop. Perfect thing to represent birth and life. Rabbits have a large amount of young which is a dirrectly related to birth and life and of course sex. And last but not least, flowers are litterally the sex organs of plants. Chocolate, a normal easter treat has also been seen as a afrodesiac by some. Unsurprizingly no one from the church I was in when I was younger said anything about what any of these things sybolized. All they said is that easter was about zombie jesus. Minus the zombie part of course, I added that because that is what someone who becomes alive after being dead is called. I actually figured out what all the symbols were for myself in middle school and by that time I hadn't attended a church for a couple of years and I had taken a few science classes. Go me. If I ever have kids I'll also be telling them the truth about all the easter stuff, though I would probably tone down some of the sex referances.

A short dialog as to why I hate easter:
"Here honey I got you some sex organs, unborn babies, and some afrodesiacs."
