Fallen Angel
The Sea
The Sea
Ingrid M. Bauncerz
The sea glows
Like a flashlight left on, forgotten,
Until it’s battery has almost
Gone
Soon nothing will be left but darkness.
There is a little light left
Just enough so that I can
See my reflection in the water,
Slashed and deformed by
Ripples.
I turn away
Moments before that sea-mirror
Goes dark and vanishes.
And I have forgotten
It.

The Sea
By: Ingrid M. Bauncerz ("Edited" by John Stewart)

The sea glows
with a life of it's own,
rembered only by those
who dare to look into the darkest zones.

Gone from memory are the times of myths and monsters,
uncharted maps and nursery rhymes to ward
child and sailor alike of 'Yon dragons there'

Thus, when I stare into the water
and peer past the ripples of my reflection,
I wonder if man-made lights
will chase away the mystery of the sea
as time and technology flows

Or, as if to remind those who have forgotten it,
the sea will stir up new monsters from the depths,
pushing us back to land, mirroring the times
when we stood upon the shores in awe and wonder
of the life and power of the sea.
