Just my random thoughts and ideas
Okay, so I feel like I've read a ton of books this month.

First off, I finished the third book in the Mistborn books, Hero of Ages. It was super awesome! I really enjoyed this series of books and am happy to announce that is there is actually a 4th book to this trilogy. I don't know if Sanderson decided to write a 4th book for a kind of epilog or if he wanted to continue writing in this world, but I'm super excited that he did. The Alloy of Law takes place some 300 years after Hero of Ages. I'm super stoked to see if all of my questions from the end of this last book are answered, and if they are, how it all played out. If you like fantasy adventure at all, you should read these books.

Assassin's Apprentice (Farseer Series #1) by Robin Hobb was a wonderful first book for this series. I am looking forward to reading the rest of them. I really loved the main character, even though he doesn't have a name until almost 3/4 of the way through the book. While most people couldn't make something like that work, Hobb did a superb job of it here. Not to give too much of the story, here is a snippet from the book:

Filled with adventure and bloodshed, pageantry and piracy, mystery and menace, Assassin's Apprentice begins the story of a b*****d of the royal house, a young man who is trained in the mystic arts of the assassin and who may become the savior of his kingdom.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ill Wind by Rachel Caine. While it got a lot of mixed reviews in my book club, most people who went on to read the other books in the series decided it was a good first book. I haven't had time yet to read the others, though I have some sitting on my bookshelves now! If you like fast paced urban fantasy, I suggest giving this series a try. I liked the main character, Joanna, and I loved trying to figure out everything that was going on, which I didn't get completely figured out til the end! I actually enjoyed this a little more than her Morganville series, mainly I think because the main character being an adult makes for more story options.

Biting Cold by Chloe Neill was AMAZING! I REALLY love this series and am so happy that each book is still adding more to the story. This book is great because you are finally given some closure and finality to some of the previous storylines, while opening up the possibilities of many paths to take. I hope this series is around for many more books to come!

I'm currently reading The Empty City (Survivors #1) by Erin Hunter. This is a new series by the author and is about a dog named Lucky. I'm almost done with it and am very happy with how it has been done. I love her Warriors series, about cats, and while her Seekers series, about bears, is good, i find it too sad for my tastes. Survivors,so far, has been a great mixture of the previous two, with tragedy striking at the very beginning, but Lucky is pulling through and has found a purpose. I look forward to reading the next one in this series.
From the book:

Lucky is a golden-haired mutt with a nose for survival. He has always been a Lone Dog, relying on his instincts to get by. Other dogs have Packs, but Lucky stands alone.

Then the Big Growl strikes. Suddenly, the ground is split wide open. The Trap House is destroyed. And all the longpaws have disappeared.

Now Lucky is trapped in a strange and desolate new world with no food, foul water, and enemies at every turn. He falls in with others left behind, including his littermate Bella, a Leashed Dog. Relying on other dogs—and having them depend on him—brings new dangers that Lucky isn't prepared for, but he may not be able to survive on his own. Can Lucky ever be a true Pack Dog?
