Imagine, if you would, you and your SO (married or not, doesn't matter) are living on the same property as your SO's parent(s). And your SO's mom is a complete control freak. Imagine, if you would, that you only had one bathroom on the property, and it happened to be in your house. Imagine that the washing machine that you all share is broken, or on the fritz, and you end up using the big jacuzzi tub that you had in your house. Imagine, if you would, that you and your SO have a sixteen-month-old baby, who barely takes a nap or sleeps at all. Imagine, if you would, that the day after you start using the jacuzzi tub for your laundry, temporarily, your SO's mother comes in, waking the baby up in the process, so she can put in another load of clothes. And, when your SO mentions that he/she just got the baby to sleep, and then their mother tells you both (very snootily, mind you) that she didn't come back over to the house at two or three in the morning, because the baby was sleeping, and you should be thankful for her consideration, because she decided not to come over.
