Happy Birthday, Grandma.
Today would have been your 80th birthday, and that has not slipped my mind. I miss you so. I think about how much time we spent at your house over the summer. Almost every day, we would go over, and take you places. Then we'd go back and wait for my dad to get off. Sometimes, you and Momma would stay in and watch soaps, sometimes you'd go sit on the porch instead. We almost always got some form of lunch though, whether it be beans and rice on the stove, or fried chicken from down the way. I remember your smile, and the way you laughed when something funny happened. You showed us all so much love. I remember when you would send us money sometimes, not much, but it was a lot for kids who would otherwise get nothing. You bought us things, and I have a hard time letting go of anything you bought for my sake. You came with us to Houston, all the way to that 10th floor of that clinic, and then to the Goodwills, and the Mac Frugals, so many times. I still think about how in 08, you evacuated with us, and I ended up taking care of you most of the time. We slept in the same bed, and I tried to sleep light, so you wouldn't have to fight to wake me when you needed to use the bathroom. When we got ready for the day, how I helped you bathe and get dressed. I tried my best to help you, because I didn't want anyone to talk about you. I enjoyed having you there, with all the other people I really loved.
