Rare Update
Writing just to write..
Ozark Summer Nights
Recently, and only due to the fact that I find myself driving rather often after night has fallen, I peered up through my windshield at the sky. I was startled, amazed.. The clouds, just light enough for the moon to peek around their curves, just heavy enough for the moon's light to reflect off of, also reflected the colors of the lights from the city. Therefore, there's a light green to red glow from the bottom, a silver lining, with a navy to purple-blue night sky, with a piercingly bright moon.

It's astonishing. It's the type of sky you see now and then in a night time scene of a calender, and even more rarely find written anywhere, for it's so difficult to explain. The scene itself, especially if you are the one witnessing it, fills the viewer with contentment, pleasantness, even a sense of energy.

Looking up, I was excited. I felt as though some measure of my migraine had been chipped away, and I took a deep breath. I felt like I'd rather run than drive, though running always has taken a toll on me.

It was after the breath that I also noticed, again, the air. A storm had come through the day before, and the day had been humid, disgustingly hot, with a hint of leaf rot and wilting. But after the sun had fallen behind the horizon, and the air cooled, that scent was washed away by sweeter breezes, carrying with them the scents of the Ozark mountain forests, the rivers, the lakes.

The air here is filling, delicious even. The city has yet to reach such a size that its smell would interfere with that of the natural scents, unless you stood in the center of it.

And perhaps, because it is summer, the humidity at night time made it all the better. The breezes felt cool, the breaths I took felt deep and clear, and my skin felt well taken care of. I could reach up and run my fingers through my hair, without worry of the dryness, or worry that my hands would be so exposed to the humidity that they'd catch in whatever tangles I might have.

I love the Ozarks and the summer nights we have here.
