His face was strained with the stress of another day. He waited patiently expecting the governess at any moment. The door eased open quietly as they brought in the offender. They found her outside the manor wandering the grounds. His stare was glassy as he looked over the woman a simple commoner with no more sense than a rat. Her clothes were fine but faded. Obviously the best she owned surely. He snorted disgusted by such filth. Commoners simple and worthless. The air was electrified with the tension in the room. What to do with her and what was she doing on the grounds? Soon his disgust was replaced by curiousity. "I wonder..." he said quietly stepping closer to the maiden who lay motionless on the floor examining her closer. What he saw shocked him to the core. How could a commoner contain such beauty? Her face was that of an angel a gentle flush and clear skin that of porcelain. Full lips and vibrant golden curls. How could this be? That a mere commoner could have such a hold on him? He was the duke after all he was to have no relation with commoners and had no desire to interact with them or give them the time of day. Yet here lay upon his fine persian rug the most beautiful girl in all of the world surpassing even his finest suitors. Could it be? ... He stepped back shocked at himself and disgusted to be attracted to such a being. He tilted his chin up. "Take her away to the red room." The governess nodded quietly and exited whisking away the girl as well. He sank into his desk chair puzzled...
