Fallen from Grace:
Overview: A medieval roleplay, focused around a few kingdoms, one of which has been over-run with the living dead, causing upheaval throughout the whole land. I intend this to be a dark, somewhat sad RP, hopefully not giving into some of the usual Zombie rp tropes. If used, it should feel more like a war RP in most senses.
Kingdoms:
"Galadria": A good, strong kingdom, that was peaceful for the most part, but only due to its strong armies and walled cities. Though they staved off attacks often at the border cities, be they from barbarians or bandits, very little opposed the Galadrians. Until the dead rose, they had the strongest military in the land, yet sought out peace and alliances with its neighboring kingdoms rather than simply take them over. But they were, nonetheless, the first victims of the dead. It all began in the innermost cities, surrounding the capital. Dead rose from their graves, taking up weapons and killing the living, who eagerly joined the ranks of the dead. Within a month, the Capital was taken, and the Necromancer who had begun this horrible slaughter took the throne of the king before his armies began to expand outwards, destroying other cities in their rush for conquest, and threatening the borders of the surrounding kingdoms... Very few cities are still held by Galadrian forces, and every day they grow weaker. (Suggestions: These are optional, and will show up when I'm showing ideas I'd like to see used, but aren't as integral. While you can choose how profiles and roles are in the RP, I would like to suggest that the king of this nation was once a crusading prince, and led the charge to take the land from barbarian forces that once held it. Before this mighty war, the kingdom was fairly strong, but nowhere near the military giant it was before the uprising. And should you choose to have him available as a character, he should be a bit like an old soldier. He can still fight, and will readily do so when he has to, but prefers peace to war, and saw many horrors in his past. And if not, then note that his name would've been Edward the Blade-handed, so named because of how he lost his hand in battle, and used a Pata (Sword-gauntlet, look it up on wiki) afterwards, keeping one on him until his final days.)
"Sashanda" (Name isn't important, or that good.): A kingdom formed on an odd geological paradox: A desert by the sea, with many rivers going through it, on which nearly all of its cities are formed. A strong trading kingdom, well-known for their use of scorched earth tactics when threatened. They had a strong alliance with Galadria, and were willing to help each other when the threat of war loomed. They did their best to assist Galadria during the dead uprising, but they simply weren't able to reach the inner cities before the dead had solidified their control. Now they take in Refugees, and have tried to contact the last bastions of humanity in Galadria, but they know the war is lost deep down, and are preparing to face the dead themselves. (suggestion: Before the war, the kings of Galadria and Sashanda planned to solidify their kingdom's alliance with an arranged marriage between their children, and possibly unite them as a single kingdom, dividing it between east and west, though they had yet to truly decide how they were to follow through with it. Also, in my mind, this kingdom would be somewhere between ancient egypt and india, but that's not quite as important.)
"Faldnir" (Again, not entirely happy with the name, but it's subject to change.): A fairly neutral country to the north, Faldnir is strong, and similar in many ways to Galadria, but isn't truly allied with them. When Galadria's fall began, The people of Faldnir prepared for war, and worried for themselves. They'd remained neutral for years, using the mountains they lived in to separate themselves from conflict, and strong defensive tactics to keep invaders out. But their military is fairly weak, and they've only survived thus far because of how hard they are to reach, and the fact that they never take sides. But with the dead rising, their council of lords is wondering if it's finally time to take a side... (Suggestion: They're considering an alliance with the fourth kingdom, which has no name yet, but is an enemy of Galadria. However, they also control the only outlets past the mountains and into the wilderness beyond it, which they plan to retreat into if their kingdom is over-run.)
"un-named" (Have yet to name this, but I'm not sure if I'd ever use this idea myself, so the man who takes it on can name this himself) : Once the strongest kingdom in the lands, with an incredible military. They had swept over the land, and could've ruled over it all if Galadria hadn't made its glorious rise to power. Before the crusades were truly over, they had attacked Galadria, declaring war on them. Galadria responded by outright destroying the cities closest to their borders. They warred with Galadria for quite some time before they realized that if the war continued, their kingdom would fall. So, only a short while after Edward (Note that this is IF you use him.) took the throne, they forged an uneasy peace treaty between their kingdoms. And even years after the war, they still hate each other. But now that Galadria has been taken by the dead, they have a chance to take what they always believed was rightfully theirs... (suggestion: I imagine this as an orient-inspired kingdom, and think of its people as heavily religious, its soldiers zealot-like in their tendencies. But they aren't evil, and if it weren't for the pride and anger of their leaders/military, they might not've declared war on Galadria, possibly even becoming its greatest allies. However, they now have another chance at being the rulers of this land, and will take it, already beginning their march into Galadria...
The dead: I'm not sure if they should constitute a kingdom or not, but they are a faction, and have taken over most of Galadria. Essentially, it began as one man: a high-ranking noble, and former part of the king's court (Edward's father, not Edward himself) before it was discovered that he was researching and practicing necromancy, after which he was exiled. In his time away, he found others like himself and began to train an elite group of necromancers, sorcerors, and other magic users. He had always wanted power, and always dreamed of taking over Galadria, but initially hoped to do so quietly, Usurping the king's throne. However, after his Exile, he'd almost given up, having neither the resources or tactics nessecary to take Galadria as his own. But then he met the others, and truly formed a plan. (suggestion: While not specifically for this kingdom, this seemed like a good place for it: Magic should be rare in this world. Only a few people should have the ability to use it, and even less should be able to master it. Also, opinions on magic are mixed. While Galadria welcomed, and even praised magic-wielders (for the most part) Faldnir fears magic, and often shuns those who use it. The fourth kingdom usually sees them as extremely valuable war assets, while Sashandsa is mostly mixed. But this is, once again, a suggestion. Also, the dead should have somewhat of a troop heirarchy: Standard dead: Mostly mindless soldiers, but are able to wield weapons and follow orders. However, they'll still blindly march to their deaths if unled. Dead leaders: Usually knights, commanders, or simply brave men, they are much more intelligent than their troops. They're still blindly loyal to those who lead them, but have a sense of self-preservation, and true intelligence. They also retain certain personality traits that they once had, but they're usually minor, and are over-ridden in combat. Dead mages: Extremely rare, but powerful, capable of casting spells, and raising/healing other dead. However, they are also the only ones other than the necromancers capable of doing so: all of the dead are raised through magic, and it cannot be transmitted like a virus. Also, they (or the necromancers) should be able to reconstruct bodies with magic, meaning that unless a corpse is truly ripped to shreds, they can put them back together.)
While I have no idea how it'd all play out, it's certainly an interesting idea, and in my mind, is worth roleplaying. As I said in the introductory post, credit me for the idea, and PM me a link to the thread if you decide to go through with it.
