Just found out that today around noon my beloved aunt lost her battle. A survivor of breast cancer, a few months ago it came back and has steadily taken its toll on her. Yesterday she went to the hospital with pneumonia. Her lungs filled up with fluid, and she was fighting for every breath, drugged unconscious so she wouldn't feel the pain. She can breathe now, in a better place than here. She fought the good fight, and was one of the most respected women I know. She always had a word of advice or a friendly joke for us. Her love of reading, of sharing the joys and sorrows of being a teenager with her nieces and nephews like me, made her a joy to always be around.
Rest in peace, Aunt Chris. You are loved, and are sorely missed already.
