Inspiration turned Fiction
I'm bored and interested in writing, that's all the reason and the description that I need for this...
Kerubar Hunting and Shocking Surprises!
"Right. As Elpas told you, I needed your assistance for a few assignments. The first of which is reducing the Striped Kerub population around here. They've demolished Ager's Farm and managed to spill over into the nearby fields. We need to go in and kill them or we'll run the risk of losing the majority of this season's harvest. I'm sure that you know the consequences of that."

Biron listened silently as his superior droned on and on. They had just arrived in the area and were looking for work. Fortunately, the pair wasn't even there for three minutes before Mires was telling them about their first assignment. They needed to kill a few of the Striped Kerubs that were trying to demolish the crop fields. The minimum was three but it was encouraged to kill more than just that.

And to be honest, he was planning on it.

Navii and Meliada were in much the same state as he was, eyes following the small creatures that roamed the landscape. Inwardly, the Warrior pondered if they looking forward to killing a few just as much as he was. Sure, that thought sounded rather tainted. Not in the least fitting for an Elyos. But he was bored. Plus, fighting was in his very nature. It was the entire reason that he chose to become a Warrior in the first place! "Ready?"

"Yes, sir!"

The group was off, walking away from their superior. Mires watched them walk away and felt a smile light his features. They were going to make it far, of that the prideful Mercenary had no doubt in his mind. They were already working like a well-trained platoon, for Seraphim's sake! As far as he was concerned, it was pretty impressive. Especially seeing as half the usual rookies that came through the area got their asses handed to them by the Striped Kerubs.

Honestly... who got beat by Striped Kerubs?

---

The blonde felt a sickening sense of satisfaction as the creatures blood splashed on his armor, letting his latest victim slide off the length of his blade. Navii was doing much the same as he was, decapitating them left and right. It was actually kind of entertaining. To see the side of her that she kept hidden except for when she was on the battlefield. To see the side of her that such precious few had the right to see. "... I could really use some mental help, can't I?"

"Of course, blondie!"

His right eyebrow twitched with thinly concealed annoyance, deep blue eyes locking onto the bobbing and weaving ( no, dancing ) form of his teammate. Navii killed another two of the Striped Kerub with a single swipe of her blade. Their heads rolled along the floor and stopped at his feet. He was highly amused by the sight and kicked them back at her, pegging her in the back via sheer chance. Lucky him, huh?

Poor Biron never saw the decapitated head coming until it was too late. He sputtered as his mouth was filled with blood that wasn't his, face with hair that was soaked in the precious lifeblood. Seraphim, that was just uncalled for! "Hey, Vii! That was not cool! Not in the slightest!"

Navii looked back at him, that spiteful ( beautiful ) smirk on her horrifying ( flawless ) features. "Shut up, Bi. You should think of that as revenge for hitting me in the back."

Biron was left quiet as his teammate left him, continuing on her massacre of the Striped Kerub. For a tenth of a second, the Elyos pitied the poor creatures. Until he was reminded of the crimes that they had unknowlingly committed. The sympathy was snipped in the very beginning. There was no reason to sympathize with the enemy, not ones such as these. Elysea needed the crops here to provide food for most of the settlements. An eighth of all the food in the world came from this small, out of the way area.

Alas, as the blonde moved to cut through more of the spineless Kerub, he noticed that they were... well, they were all dead. By the Seraphim was that disappointing for him. He was hoping to get one or two more in before they headed back to report a job well done! Biron heaved a sigh as he left the area with Meliada and Navii. There was always next time, right?

---

Meliada watched the interactions of her partners. They were the same way the day that she was placed on this very team. It was kind of amusing to see how little they had changed in the amount of time that they had fought alongside each other. But, at the same time, it was kind of annoying. Why couldn't they just kiss and get it over with?

'Navii would have none of it, that's why...'

Why in the name of Elysea was her best female friend so frustrating?

As they trekked along the pathway toward Mires, her eyes danced with untold amusement as the pair bickered back and forth. They were talking about which of them had the most impressive kill throughout the course of their assignment. The Mage was caught by surprise when, suddenly, the Warriors looked in her direction. She was put off by the suddenness of their actions. What could they possibly want from her?!

"Since we can't seem to agree who had the better kill, you will be the tiebreaker."

Oh, by the Seraphim.

This was not the sort of situation she wanted to get put in the middle of. Meliada had known the pair for at least several months now and knew that either way she went, one of them was going to feel offended. As such, she usually dreaded being placed into this kind of situation. The last thing she wanted between her and her teammates was bad feelings. That was just the type of person that she was.

"I- I don't know. Biron looked pretty... I don't know, cool, when he pinned that Kerub on a tree," the blunette wilted at her response and she quickly continued, "but at the same time, Navii was pretty... u- um, awesome, when she kicked that one Kerub down the hill into one of the spikes they had set up along the pathway."

Meliada leaned back, feeling sweet relief course through her veins. They couldn't possibly hold it against her if she played the indecisive card, could they? As luck would have it, they couldn't. Instead of pestering the Mage to pick which one she thought was better, they went back to bickering at each other. And thus, she was brought back to associating them with an old married couple.

Not that she'd ever admit to thinking that.

---

"What are you talking about, blondie? I know for a fact that I had the better kill!"

Navii glared at her fellow Warrior, watching his every action. This was the usual routine for them. Especially after they finished whatever assignment they were on. The blunette forgot just how many times she had argued with him on who had the better kill. As far as she bothered to remember, the number ranged in the dozens. Balaur, maybe even in the hundreds!

As she prepared herself for another round of argument, Biron said something that caught her by complete and utter surprise. "Fine, whatever. You win."

"You're damn right I wi- ... wait, what?"

The Warrior stared at him, her eyes betraying her shock. This, this was new. He never agreed with her. This' Biron that she was talking about! One of the most stubborn and prideful Warriors that she'd met since the day she first picked up a blade in her fathers workshop! By the Seraphim, was something wrong with him? Unbidden, a rush of concern passed through her. Was he feeling ill as of late?

"I said that you had the better kill. Jeez, don't make me repeat myself now." the blonde retorted.

How was she supposed to react? Was she supposed to continue arguing, pretending as though he had never agreed with her in the first place? Or was she to simply accept that this prideful, stubborn man had accepted that he'd lost to her at something? It was new territory for her and she was left feeling very uncomfortable. The group fell in awkward silence after that, with none of them sure what to say.

Inwardly, the blunette hoped that he picked up the argument later... as much as she dreaded to admit this, she was actually... fond of their bickering, to whatever degree. Wait, what she was thinking? There was no possible way that she was fond of her big, blonde idiotic teammate... could there? As uncertainty filled her heart, they began their debriefing with Mires.
